A massive search is underway on Gillie's Creek this afternoon. Lieutenant Keith Vida tells us up to 10 people were swept into the creek between 9 and 10:00pm last night. Crews recovered two bodies overnight. We're told the individuals may have been forming a human chain to rescue someone when the water washed all of them away.

Chesterfield officials confirm a 29-year-old woman also died. They tell us her body was pulled from a car that had been submerged under water along Cogbill Road.

For some reason my area of Denbigh escapes the really bad storm damage. They pass over or go around. I refer to it as the “Denbigh Shower Curtain”.

I posted on another thread.

But after 3 hours of tense driving, I finally got home.
I heard 95 and 64 were shut down so I thought I'd go via Leigh St. One major flood there behind DMV. Freaked me out. Eventually wound up on Broad - went through flooded road #2. Freaked me out even more. After that, it was pretty smooth sailing. Saw several abandoned cars floating east on Broad. Pretty incredible.

My house is okay but I am getting worried about losing trees if more storms hit. (Frances, go away!)

I hope your husband is home and getting some rest tonight. What a horrible storm that was! I didn't realize just how bad until I heard and saw the news reports today.

I'm out here in Powhatan, too, and thank the Lord that we live on a little hill.
