MTV, ROLLING STONE and the rock and roll establishment -- past and present -- have cast their vote, and their man is John Kerry.
So on Sunday night when John Kerry's daughters were announced to speak at the annual MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, the MTV youth were expected to welcome his daughter's as pop culture princesses.
Instead, in an era of the unexpected, the daughters of the Democratic candidate were met with a resounding wall of boos at the filming in Miami.
From the moment Alexandra and Vanessa started speaking, the boos outweighed anything close to cheers, and the reaction turned worse when the daughters asked the VIACOM youth to vote for their father. So shocked by the reaction, the taller of the two daughters tried to 'shhhhhh' her peers to no avail.
Developing...
Does The Penthouse Forum REALLY count as "the public spotlight," though, in all honesty...? :)
Wow- they inherited his horseface.
Their only sin is their father is an idiot!
Heh.
"Rock" that vote, MTV. :)
A holiday weekend video treat: How cable music channel VH1 turned booing of Senator Hillary Clinton into cheering.
Stossel explained: Last fall Paul McCartney headlined a concert to benefit victims of September 11th. Some politicians appeared, including Senator Hillary Clinton. Over the booing of Senator Clinton as she walked on stage and waved, Stossel noted: And people in the audience booed her. Booed and heckled.
Stossel told viewers: But then MTV's channel VH1 re-ran the same concert and made it into a DVD. As 20/20 showed the same scene again, but this time VH1's new version with applause, Stossel pointed out: Notice a difference? The booing has been removed. Now and forever on the DVD the crowd applauds Senator Clinton.
The MRC's Mez Djouadi has posted a RealPlayer clip of what Stossel showed. To watch it, go to the posted version of this CyberAlert: http://www.mediaresearch.org/cyberalerts/2002/cyb20020830.asp#3
"Even if I hated Kerry, which I don't, I wouldn't take it out on his kids."
The kids are fair game and as 30 + - year-old adult proxies for Kerry they should expect to receive scorn and ridicule at times.
I gotta believe it will be edited so you will not hear any boos. Sorta like Hillary getting booed at the post 9/11 event.
Spot-on. As pointed out, previously: it's certainly not as if the "poor, helpless little dears" were there by accident, after all. They came with the express purpose of serving (or, at least, intedning to serve) as credibility-boosting, vote-snaring eye candy "bait," on behalf of someone attempting to snare for himself the position of Most Powerful Man In All the World.
That sort of wheedling-by-proxy is a task traditionally assigned only to responsible, decision-making adults, capable of forming complex sentences and walking from place to place without the constant, watchful services of a nanny, or duenna. If they're old enough to send out and serve as (why beat around the bush, really?) blatant political shills... then: they're plenty old enough to take the occasional knocks accompanying, without blubbering afterwards that their Dresden china-fragile feelings have been trampled upon. :)
The audience was just mad that the 'girls' didn't come out on stage nekkid!
NO, You need to see it from the side.
No Cher No way.
The Kerry Sisters, in their worldwide video smash hit: "SHHHHHHH! SHHHHHHHH!"
Enjoy. :)
LOL
Kerry daughter tries to silence crowd.
The big one has dynamite legs, though...
1st Kerry Girl: "Gawd. Poor people. HONESTLY -- !"
2nd Kerry Girl [::frightened, confused::]: "I... I don't understand this. They aren't groveling, the way the maids and the gardener and the chauffeur always do! Why aren't they groveling, sis? FOR GOD'S SAKE, DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND THAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE GROVELING -- ?!?" :)
Like I said, I think the brunette is attractive. But I just don't like the hawk nose on the blonde. Take the nose away and she would be stunning.
LMAO!
The command has no nuances. Just because he does something wrong does not mean they should not honor the command.
Look at it this way...even though Clinton dishonored the Presidency, we still owed deference to the POSITION of President.
Children owe honor to the position of "Father & Mother." (Even though the one occupying it might have regularly engaged in really "jerkish" behavior.)
Looks to me as though the brunette was so stunned at the boos that she pulled out "old trusty", the middle finger for the audience.
