Anti-Kerry 'Swift Boat' Group Vows To Keep Up Ad Campaign
AFP: 8/29/2004
WASHINGTON, Aug 29 (AFP) - The controversial group of veterans, whose television advertisements attacking Democratic White House hopeful John Kerry sparked a national debate, vowed Sunday to keep up their campaign until the November 2 election.
Retired admiral Roy Hoffman, who founded the so-called "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth," told Time magazine that since their first, relatively small ad ran in three states earlier this month, the group had raised 2.5 million dollars from 37,183 donors.
"We knew that we were going to stir the pot, but I had no idea we`d be this successful," Hoffman said.
The group`s ads questioned Kerry`s honesty and his record in Vietnam, where he was wounded three times and awarded the Silver and Bronze Stars for valor.
But the group, required by law to operate independently of political campaigns, has also come under fire for its links to President George W. Bush`s re-election effort. Two members of Bush`s campaign team have resigned because of their ties to the group.
Yeah, you'll find it where all the air duct and vents are. It's a magnet to cover your vents and it's cheeeeeep.

Time to turn up the heat on Kerry's anti war protests!

I was able to grab the remote in time to miss it.
I'll say this once and once only...
Then I will deny ever having said it....:>)
Those Navy guys are doing a hell of a good job, working this bastard over..
Semper Fi
Whorealdo never fails to show what he truly is made of....
Whore$hit.....
Semper Fi
I know what you mean, he makes me physically sick.
Amen. The first is not longer needed, and third one sucks...very disappointing. I gave them a pretty penny, but no more. They have done their good work..God bless 'em. Time to spread the wealth to other 527's like the American Victory Fund, who comes on line next week and who will put thousands of boots on the ground in battleground states, in addition to running ads. Club for Growth is also good.
As David Letterman used to say, "Just Curious"
Two? I knew about Benjamin Ginsberg resigning, but who's the other one?
ping
It was someone on a high level volunteer committee. I can't remember his name.
Time to dig in again. They're like the Thomas Paines of 2004!
You are correct. There are so many of his words that can hang him politically. And all the context in the world wouldn't save them.
"Whorealdo is on right now calling for W to specfically condemn the ads. What an asshole."
I heard that last night. Plus that RAT idiot (is that redundant?) saying the claims by the swiftees have all been shown to be false!
WTF???
Last I heard Kerry had to backtrack on his story about "Christmas in Cambodia" and his camp released a statement last week saying that his 1st PH "might have come from a self inflicted wound." Now, exactly WHO is having their claims refudiated?
And to hear Clintoon tell Gerry Rivers that the Swift Boat vets were "bearing false wittness" made me ILL! The GALL of someone like him to make reference to the 10 Commandments. How he can walk into a church and not be struck down immediately is beyond me.
When a conservative recuses himself from a position because of a potential for conflict-of-interest, that's proof of wrongdoing. When a liberal refuses to recuse himself for an accused conflict-of-interest, that's proof of righteousness.
