I just finished reading "Unfit For Command." On page 148 it has exerpts from "The New Soulder," and I quote.
"We will not quickly join those who march on Veterans Day waving small flags, calling to memory those thousands who died for the "greater glory of the United States." We will not accept the rhetoric. We will not readily join the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars--"
You know he lacks a proper hat when addressing these folks .... Perhaps someone could slip a pair of ladies undies on his head right before he takes the podium .....
Would make for a great photo op......
Yeah, I'd say Nader is looking pretty good to the ABB crowd right about now.
Don't be rude. Just turn your backs and don't respond."
Absolutely. Greet him with complete silence until he departs.
Watch for Dufus to give a half a**ed apology to the Vets. He will apologize without claiming any responsibility for what he did. I would bet on this if I gambled.
John Kewrry is still a US Senator. Show respect for the position by silence even though the holder of that office is despicable.
I don't see it coming. Kerry will only do that if he wants to sink what little remains of his campaign. An apology will only confirm that he lied about his experiences in Vietnam, lied to get his medals, lied to the Senate in 1971 and is lying about being a "hero".
In fact, a Kerry apology will only give the Swiftees more credibility and, until his campaign ends on Nov. 3, when he loses by a huge amount, Kerry will never give the Swiftees more ammunition than he left with them 30+ years ago.
I've sent that quote to the VFW convention office and the American Legion Convention Office several times. They are too much gentlemen to cancel Mr. Kerry, but I think things could be a little frosty at his appearance.
I believe he should receive the same welcome he created for the Vietnam Vets returning home, PLEASE PASS THE ROTTEN TOMATOE!
You cannot start a sentance with and.
I only live about an hour from the Opryland Hotel where the American Legion convention is held. If I had a better car I would drive there to freep him but I expect him to get the same treatment he got at the VFW convention
No choice. The Kerry campaign gambled on using his combat record as a prop. Now they're stuck with it. He'll probably wear his purple heart to his concession speech.
My thoughts exactly. He's got to know that he will be in hostile (to him) territory and it's going to be worse than his other veteran's group reception where they turned their backs on him and he became visibly upset afterward.
It would not surprise me if he had a sudden need to change his schedule. But if he were to make an excuse and duck the scheduled appearance, it will still harm his campaign. He's walking into a lose-lose situation and is too arrogant to know it.
Hmmmm? How about going to the VFW website and posting a message citing pg 148 and quoting what it says. Maybe it will challenge them to challenge Kerry.
No problem if linked like this.
Thank you for posting the quote from Unfit for Command. When I heard Kerry would speak at the American Legion, I remembered the quote you posted. Tomorrow morning, I plan to call the Nashville American Legion and "enlighten" them re Mr. Kerry's past comments. Perhaps they would like to have Mr. Kerry explain these comments.
