Most of the debate between the former shipmates who swear by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and the group of other swift boat veterans who are attacking his military record focuses on matters that few of us have the experience or the moral standing to judge.

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman has no idea where a Silver Star citation displayed on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's campaign Web site came from, he said Friday. The citation appears over Lehman's signature. "It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me," he said.
Some pundits are starting to look at the sum of Kerry's self-inflicted wounds throughout all this in a greater context: he is not only a fraud but an incompetent one. Poor management skills, weak leadership, and arrogant liar.
bump
And that is his GOOD side.
John Kerry, you're no John Kennedy!
He attacked them again in 2004, accusing them of lying and calling upon the Attorney General and the President of the U.S. to silence them.
President Bush made no attempt to silence Michael Moore, Howard Dean, et al., who launched outlandish and highly inflammatory accusations against him, e.g. that he knew about 9/11 in advance and did not prevent it, et al.
It is the responsibility of the President of the U.S. to protect the rights of U.S. citizens, and Mr. Bush takes such responsibilites seriously.
He obviously agrees with William Faulkner that, though he disagrees with what people say, he defends their right to say it--even though it be outrageous, mendacious, false, and defammatory to himself.
His refusal to attempt to silence them is the mark of a man of honor and a great President.
Contrast the actions of President Bush with those of John Kerry, who has attempted to silence American citizens and servicemen who were critical of him.
Consider how wisely and honorably Mr. Bush has behaved as the most powerful man in the world.
Consider how Mr. Kerry might behave if he had such enormous power.
this is HUGE coming from the Urinal, as it is known locally. BIG TIME lefty paper.
don't think they even mentioned the Swifties, except for an editorial calling them all liars this past Wed., as I recall. unsigned editorial, with no facts whatsoever.
local talk show host [Sykes] called him on it and invited him on his show to clarify. never heard back.
Lying about having a flying dog name V.C. makes Kerry a liar
Lying about getting a "Lucky Hat" from a CIA guy while on a Top Secret mission makes Kerry a liar.
Lying about being in Cambodia makes Kerry a liar.
Lying about me having to do the dishes now makes Kerry a liar.
"Kerry attacked American veterans in the 1970's, accusing them of committing atrocities and war crimes"
I don't think the media fully understands how serious that is. It would be like Katie Couric testifying in court that every journalist she knows routinely molests children.
If the media doesn't understand this, it's because the so-called "journalists" don't want to understand it.
I wonder if the SBVT will pop open an October surprise?

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman has no idea where a Silver Star citation displayed on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's campaign Web site came from, he said Friday. The citation appears over Lehman's signature.
"It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me," he said.
The additional language varied from the two previous citations, signed first by Adm. Elmo Zumwalt and then Adm. John Hyland, which themselves differ. The new material added in the Lehman citation reads in part: "By his brave actions, bold initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty, Lieutenant (jg) Kerry reflected great credit upon himself...."
Asked how the citation could have been executed over his signature without his knowledge, Lehman said: "I have no idea. I can only imagine they were signed by an autopen." The autopen is a device often used in the routine execution of executive documents in government.
Kerry senior adviser Michael Meehan could not be reached for comment on Kerry's records.

What will do the most to expose Hanoi John is his post VN
stuff with FOnda, Ramsey Clarke, the commies in gay Paree, the patriotic cover of The New Soldier, trashing his ribbons, medals or whatever he tossed.
"John Kerry is a legend in his own mind! The dork is dangerous and has no business being the President."
President is OK - Commander in Chief is not.
"This article first appeared in The Washington Post."
WaPo has turned on him. Dobbs is peeved about the lie on the journals/Brinkley and the SF180. They will destroy him.
Bad move Kerry.
Kerry made it sound as though Nixon's secret plan could have stopped the deaths while Nixon was still running for office.
I remember a politician who ran for President in 1968 with the secret plan for peace, and he was elected. ... At the time that [Nixon] ran there were only 22,000 or so names eligible to be on the wall down there at the Mall. When he finished, there were 58,000.In other words Kerry is implying that Nixon was responsible for 36,000 Vietnam deaths.
In reality, about 20,000 men died during all the years of Nixon's presidency.
Here are the Vietnam statistics which show that about 16,000 deaths occurred in 1968, when Johnson was President.
Year of Death or Declaration of Death | Number of Records |
1964 | 206 |
1965 | 1,863 |
1966 | 6,143 |
1967 | 11,153 |
1968 | 16,592 |
1969 | 11,616 |
1970 | 6,081 |
1971 | 2,357 |
1972 | 641 |
1973 | 168 |
