Can there be such a thing as a conspiracy in the media? There was a lot of talk about that last week. We prefer, however, to call it coordination, rather than conspiracy.
Liberal groups have already spent nearly $70-million on anti-Bush TV ads. Little is mentioned about that by the liberal national media corps. But, let one relatively small group of citizens run a couple 30 second spots against Kerry and all hell breaks loose in the media.
The reason was that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth had spent about a half-million bucks in TV spots describing Kerry's lies about being a Vietnam war hero. The group includes Democrats as well as Republicans with a common bond of being swift boat veterans.
So, why does the Swift Boat veterans group get all the media attention for their couple ads when the liberal groups trashing President Bush receive little media attention? Simple. Because the liberal media is working with their friends at the DNC to protect their liberal candidate. One of John Kerry's largest campaign backers is the American media.
Last week, some jokester sent us a quote that is kind of fitting. Those who read history may recognize this:
"The function of political campaigning is not the scientific education of the individual. . . . All political campaigning must be made to appeal to the masses, and its intellectual level should therefore be in accordance with the most limited intelligence of those being addressed. . . . The function of political campaigning is not to provide an interesting diversion for blasé young gentlemen, but to win over the masses . . . constant repetition thousands of times over will succeed in imprinting an idea on the memory of a crowd."
That quote, of course, is not quite correct as written. But, replace the words "political campaigning" with "propaganda" and it would be true. Adolf Hitler wrote that in Mein Kampf.[1] Problem is, propaganda is exactly what we are getting from the left. Socialist propaganda. And it is related with prominence by our liberal national media.
For instance, on August 20, the New York Times started yet another long editorial (Friendly Fire: The Birth of an Anti-Kerry Ad) on their front page[2]. The idea was to disparage the couple hard hitting Swift Boat Veterans for Truth TV spots and their best selling book, "Unfit for Command." Many of the major newspapers then wrote similar hit-pieces attacking the Swifties. That is fine, in itself. They own the paper and the ink and can write anything they wish.
The problem is, they related this stuff as "news" rather than the opinion it actually was. As we see in these media propaganda articles, they would have us believe that John Kerry was somewhat like the hero of Apocalypse Now, rather than just another junior lieutenant with little training and zero experience for the job at hand.
We will not go so far as to say that major newspapers coordinated their articles with the Kerry campaign. But, darn, it sure looks like they did. The propaganda and deception were the same. And, most certainly, these liberal newspapers did not bother to check their facts very well.
Their retractions will probably be somewhere back around the want ad pages. And, yes, there will be retractions and clarifications coming.
Just for fun, let's list a few of these expected retractions. Because, already, Kerry is starting to back off on these points.
Kerry already admitted he was not anywhere near Cambodia on Christmas 1968. According to the Swifties (page 49), Kerry actually took his boat off to look for the Bob Hope USO show then, but misread the charts and maps and got lost. We do not expect Kerry to admit that part -- and are willing to give him a pass on that -- but he is admitting he was not in Cambodia.
Same with that first Purple Heart. Actually, he shot himself. Kerry was playing with a grenade launcher. He fired a grenade to shore, it hit a rock too close in and a little piece of shrapnel came back and got him in the arm. Look for Kerry to admit that soon.
Kerry's third Purple Heart was under dubious circumstances, too. That will soon be explained publicly.
Kerry is also leaning towards apologizing to all Vietnam veterans for his treasonous antics after he returned home. (Too little, too late!)
Meanwhile, the DNC has prepared "brown books" for Kerry-friendly reporters. These books are nothing but out-and-out character assassination attempts on the individual members of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth group. The New York Times and Boston Globe, of course, were first to receive this material. Will they use it? Of course! And again, without ever checking their facts first.
So where does all this leave the liberal media after supporting the Kerry lies so adamantly?
We see them as what they are: a major part of the liberal political campaigning machine. Propagandists. Sure, they also relate some hard news. But, as far as their political writing goes, they are strong supporters of the far left.

Replace the words "political campaigning" with "propaganda" and it would be right out of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf.
Darn, it sure looks like the major newspapers coordinated their articles with the Kerry campaign, and did not bother to check their facts very well. Retractions and clarifications will be forthcoming.
Meanwhile, the DNC has prepared, for Kerry-friendly reporters, "brown books" which are nothing but character assassination attempts on the Swift Boat Vets.
Socialist propaganda.
The media and ACADEMIA.
Along that vein (apologies, retractions, etc.), it's probably not too early to start researching Hillary's background for (serious) anti-war connections.
Way too late.....wonder if they noticed 'UNFIT TO COMMAND' is #1 on NYT bestsellers list. ;o)
Way too little to work with ... and way too late.
It would be one thing if they could kill the Swifties beast in one fell swoop. They cannot!
These men, these many Swift Boat men, are here for the duration and like a Pitbull have sunk their collective teeth into the Kerry Camp.
For the press to take them out would entail so many absurd lies and innuendo, that even the gullible would not believe them.
Drudge gets 9,000,000 hits a day. There are plenty of non-member lurkers on FR. E-Mails sent to family and friends spread like wild fires. The MSM is sinking nothing.
>>liberal media is working with their friends at the DNC to protect their liberal candidate
Can it be true???
I love it. The NYT tries to bury it on one page while they have to promote it on another. Next thing you know the'll suspend publishing the NYT bestseller list for a few weeks, because of an ink or newsprint shortage.
I FINALLY got a copy of it....from B&N believe it or not. I had just ordered it from the Conservative Book Club on Thursday - B&N called yesterday - it was in!!!! Sooooo - I sent that copy to my Dad in Alabama yesterday and will be the good, unselfish daughter and wait for mine to come in the mail....I'll be in NYC beginning tomorrow and will faithfully wear my W shirts, stars, etc etc.....and to make sure these patriots keep getting the message out, I sent a check this week and will probably send more as needed!
bump TO SUPPORT THE NEW SWIFT VETS AD AND GEORGE BUSH... http://swift2.he.net/~swift2/gardner2.mpg

I'm considering contacting the Moderator and asking for this post to be moved. This is certainly not news, at least not to anyone around here.
Watergate's not going to seem "low" to dems. No--I mean trashing servicemen, protesting with the unwashed, etc.
"Former Navy Secretary John Lehman has no idea where a Silver Star citation displayed on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's campaign Web site came from, he said Friday. The citation appears over Lehman's signature. "It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me," he said.
Yep...this is getting really good. Implosion of Kerry's presidential run....is happening as we speak. YES!!!
You go girl... ;o)
