Douglas Brinkley Reports for Duty
The Weekly Standard ^ | 09/06/2004, Volume 009, Issue 48 | The Scrapbook

Posted on 08/27/2004 10:33:51 PM PDT by NavySEAL F-16

Here's how "presidential historian" Douglas Brinkley figures it: Various factual inaccuracies and contradictions in Tour of Duty, his famously sycophantic biography of John Kerry, are frequently cited by opponents of Kerry's presidential campaign. On the other hand, the sycophantic parts of the book are just as frequently cited by Kerry's friends. In other words, both parties find his work useful. And what better proof of his academic objectivity and integrity could there be than that?

So, nah, Brinkley's "not worried" about appearing biased, he tells the New Orleans Times-Picayune in a "wide-ranging interview in the soaring lobby of his Uptown home" published August 27. Sure, he says, "I'm sympathetic to Kerry in his 20s." And "it's no secret I think he would make a first-rate president." And, okay, Brinkley's "angry" about "false accusations made against Kerry's military record." Also, Brinkley cohosted a fundraiser for Kerry in February 2003. Plus which, he spoke at a rally for Kerry in New Orleans this past March. . .

I do what I do to honor those who never came back.

Their "voices" must be heard on Nov 2.

Brinkley is going to be discredited like Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Worse. Way worse.

Good nickname for Kerry.

BTW, I have a new phrase to explain to libs
just what is up with the Swift Vets and Kerry.

"They're going to Bork him." Now THAT's language
a liberal can understand. :-)

Aye.

The answer (alas) is that over-the-top rudeness *works*.
Look at ACT UP pelting communicants with condoms
(some used).

But the left has done an end run and captured many courts,
so that using their tactics on them is DEFINED as a
"hate crime".

They have apparently read Orwell's 1984 and used it as
an instruction manual.

BUT...! Orwell did not allow for the
Power of the Internet(TM).

Where exactly can I get Brinkley's phone number or email or fax number??

Or that of his publishing company, or boss or whatever?

<< Why with the libs, it's always somebody else's fault? >>

That's and easy one!

Pathological Infantilism. [PI]

Liberalism is a psychosis and PI is one of its defining symptoms.

Libs are emotionally fixed.

There's several recent photos of Kerry where he's acting like a 5-year old kid, hopping and jumping around, playing on the train tracks, etc. I expect the next photo to be of him climbing up a tree and shaking the branches.

No, he sold his soul to the higher cause of Socialism/Communism, it's what it's all about.

It is not a cult of personality.

IMHO

And Brinkley's not even a good liar. He has Rassmann on two boats at the same time during the March '69 Bronze Star incident.

The main reason the right is so fearful of the left is because the left has had a virtual monopoly on the "mainstream" media in this country for so long. Control of information is the real power in this country. All that is starting to change with the internet and talk radio. The leftist stranglehold on the truth is finally being broken.

Howlin is right about Brinkley sweating like a pig when he made that calculated HARDBALL appearance. But I don't know why....Matthews only asked puffball questions.

Kerry won't release all his records or his journal, he says because he signed an "exclusivity contract with David Brinkley, and Brinkley won't answer reporters questions because he's under contract with MSNBC. Clever scam, huh?

This guy's career as an historian is finished. He sold his soul and reputation for John F'in Kerry.

I used to like him. About 4 years ago I surfed past CSPAN and there he was in Lowell Massachusetts going on about Jack Kerouac. He did very well .....  Lowell is north of Boston, where Kerry ran for Congress in 1972 and lost

Just so, that flushing sound in Brinkley's ears is his career going down the bowl. So now he's blaming Kerry for giving him bad information. How many other Kerry pals are going to run for cover and soon? This is just the beginning. It isn't beyond imagining that the RATs will give Kerry the hook. That speech to the American Vets Kerry's going to give will be extremely important for him. It would be wonderful if they all walked out and left him speaking to an empty hall.

Where would the rest of us be if you guys who were there didn't clue us in on Kerry's lies and what really went on. Of course, Kerry was counting on getting away with it again. Nobody had held his feet to the fire up until now, and with the protection of the MSM and RATS and TerAYsa's money, he actually thought he'd get away with it.
