Tampa Police officer threatens to kill President Bush [one fewer FL Kerry voter]

Tampa, Florida - Tampa police officer Joseph Mazagwu has been arrested and charged with threatening to kill President George Bush when the President was here in July.

STEVE HOGUE, Tampa Police Chief: “He apparently went in to a local business and made these comments. It was reported to another police officer and we called the Secret Service at once.”

In Federal Court today, the U.S. Atty.’s office quoted Mazagwu’s conversation with a dry cleaning employee on July 15th. Mazagwu allegedly said he wanted nothing to do with protecting the President and went on to criticize the President’s policies in both Iraq and Africa. The conversation ended with Mazagwu allegedly saying that both the President and his father, former President Bush, should be shot.

He reportedly went on to say that if he had enough bullets, he’d shoot the President in the head himself.

...one fewer FL Kerry voter...

Only if he's convicted before Election Day.

We are not being culturally sensitive to this guys opinion about Bush. Plus I find the timing of this suspicious, and its all Bush's fault anyway.

Nobody is this stupid! Right?
Maybe he's after 20 years with 3 squares a day, color TV and not having to work? Weird.

The conversation ended with Mazagwu allegedly saying that both the President and his father, former President Bush, should be shot.

If any sane liberal would have stopped there.

He reportedly went on to say that if he had enough bullets, he’d shoot the President in the head himself.

But this idiot is going to get nailed to the wall because he didn't know when to stop. Personally, I don't have a problem with the fact that some people don't like Bush (nobody gets 100% support), or even with the fact that some people wish him ill (there's always hotheads in every group), but when you come out and say "I would kill the President" you deserve to go to jail. It's unlikely that the moron would have ever done anything, but you can't let this cr*p slide.

As an aside, if he hates the President that much, how fairly do you think he treats people he pulls over with Bush/Cheney bumperstickers on their cars? Ambulance chasing lawyers across America are probably looking for conservatives pulled over by this guy so they can launch harassment suits against his department even as we speak.

dems are fired up over this officers arrest. they want bush to come out and condem his arrest and have bush to participate in a sensitivity training class.

Solution:

After conviction (hopefully) and subsequent sentencing, place him in "mainline" population in prison.

His former affiliation may get him some death threats of his own.

To serve and protect..
He must have thought there was a clause in there that said he only had to protect those he agreed with.

But he was always a "good" boy, a quiet boy. He never caused any trouble. Until he went nuts. Over Bush. Like all the Dimos and "liberals".

I'm going to disagree, I think saying it is okay, he should only be arrested if he actually undertook some step to accomplish it.

I do think he should be fired. I don't think any police department should employee officers that make comments that endorses breaking the law.
