THE SHOW BEGINS! NUDE AIDS ACTIVISTS BUSTED AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
NY Daily News ^ | 8/26/05

A group of AIDS activists stripped naked Thursday in front of the site of the upcoming Republican National Convention, demanding that President Bush make good on his promise to help HIV-positive people in underdeveloped countries.

Two members of ACT UP climbed atop a parked rig on West 33rd Street opposite Madison Square Garden and held a sign reading “W: Drop the Debt. Stop AIDS.” Protest organizer Eustacia Smith, 36, said the two were arrested along with nine others.

They were arrested after standing in the buff for about 10 minutes, their bodies painted with the same inscription, their arms locked and chanting “Drop the Debt. Stop AIDS.”

“Countries are spending all the money they have on paying off debt ... when they could be spending that money on prevention of HIV,” said Smith, a social worker in Brooklyn.

Other naked protesters escaped arrest by quickly putting on their clothes and walking away, Smith said.

Another activist, 40-year-old Kris Hermes, said the group staged the protest four days before the Republican convention begins, to make sure their message didn’t get “drowned out” by what is expected to be a barrage of protests.

The charges against the protesters were not immediately released by police.

“Countries are spending all the money they have on paying off debt ... when they could be spending that money on prevention of HIV,”

Uhhhmmmm, riiiiight. Let's just stop paying all our bills and force people to be celibate. Since that's about the only thing that'll stop AIDS in the hell holes where it is rampant.

The only people with AIDS that I have any sympathy for are the children and those who have caught it THROUGH NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. In other words, people who caught it through a transfusion, needle stick (not drug related) or from a cheating spouse.

I guess should have given Africa $15 TRILLION instead of $15 billion.

Yep, $15 billion is just not enough money to tell people to stop doing IV drugs and "put a bag on it" in their native languages.

Hey AIDS Monkeys, G Dub already donated 15 billion to teach the bone smugglers in Africa to knock it off.  You want to give them more?  Give 'em your money, not mine.

I suppose that tomorrow, Kerry will promise to up the Worldwide HIV funding and Planned Parenthood and Medicare, too. Now doesn't this funding "somehow" come out of the middle classes pocket??

Drop the Debt. Stop AIDS.

Is it safe to ask what the connection between deficit spending and AIDS might be?

And would these people support outlawing sodomy to slow the spread of AIDS?

Yes so do I. They are innocent. Othewise if people get AIDS now with all that information that is out there they get no sympathy from me.

I hope the cops get hazard pay too. I also hope that every night the news has some footage of the demonstrators so the public gets a good look at the opposition to W. Cannot help but help him in voters' eyes.

I must be a little dense. What does protesting "nude" have to do with the topic they are protesting...."demanding that President Bush make good on his promise to help HIV-positive people in underdeveloped countries".....???????

I've tried all the words: naked, nude, buck naked, stripped, sans clothing, au naturel, bare, bare-skinned, bare-a**ed, disrobed, divested, exposed, raw, stark-naked, unclad, unclothed, uncovered, undraped, undressed; and as much as I massage and manipulate the verbiage, I can't make anything fit the purpose of the protest!

Thus....I have concluded....they are simply idiots.
