SEATTLE -- A man angry about on-air comments made by radio talk show host Tom Leykis spotted him outside a Seattle nightspot and kicked him in the head, police say.
Leykis, based in Los Angeles, was treated at Swedish Medical Center and required 17 stitches for a cut above his eye. He also sustained a scraped knee and a black eye in the attack early Monday, a police report said.
No arrests had been reported by early Thursday.
"We are taking it very seriously," officer Scott Moss said.
Leykis, 48, is known for blunt talk. He named the woman accusing Kobe Bryant of rape, as well as a woman who tried to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge in Seattle and the 13-year-old boy raped by teacher Mary Kay Letourneau.
Leykis said he had never before been attacked by someone upset by his show.
Leykis, on one of his regular trips to broadcast from Seattle, said he was getting some fresh air about 3:45 a.m. outside the Five Point Cafe when a man came out of the nightspot, took a photograph, then went back inside and showed the digital image to two others.
"I was minding my own business. It was a person who knew who I was from the radio," Leykis said.
A woman who had been with Leykis then came out of the Belltown-area restaurant and all three men followed. One said the radio host once took a call from him and then insulted him on the air, calling him a name and questioning his virility.
"You had no right to do that," the man said.
One of the other men, the one who had taken the picture, then kicked Leykis in the head, knocking him to the ground, according to the police report.
Both men fled and the third apologized as Leykis and the woman got into a taxicab to go to the radio host's hotel, where police and medical aid were summoned.
Leykis and the woman have reviewed security camera footage with the Five Point staff, police officer Sean Whitcomb said.
The bar owner wouldn't comment. Officials at KQBZ-FM, which broadcasts Leykis' show locally, did not respond to requests for comment from The Seattle Times and Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
Welcome to Seattle, Tom.
??KICKED HIM IN THE HEAD???
Was Tom L. on his knees or just crawling out of the gutter?
Looks like someone recruited another Republican.

_______
I work with a woman, maybe 5'6", who can, while standing flat footed, kick me in the head (I'm 6'1").
Was Leykis doubled over laughing at this guy, thereby allowing him to kick him the head? Is he really short?
While I don't condone violence against anyone, unless in self defense, don't ask me to be too sorry he got beat up.
While other "shock jocks" at least have a little creativity in what they do to get the "shock", he does not. He's just a jerk and doesn't care about being a jerk to others, so long as it gets him ratings.
He was droped by Live 105.7 here in Baltimore (after only being here about a month), and replaced by Ron and Fezz. When I found that out, I laughed for days.
Sounds like he is on the level of Jerry Springer.
He was demonstrating how he could be standing side-by-side with someone who was taller and kick them in the head. (Of course, he was stopping short right were his foot would have connected with the person's face.)
The man is vile, I've heard portions of his show. He talks about his male anatomy all the time and has given his testicles names and calls them the twins. He's so insulting to women, especially, that I can't believe that this hasn't happened before.
Leykis verbally attacks people every day on his show and now he's crying about getting attacked back. Sheesh, whiny babies everywhere it would seem.
Pretty sad he got his ass kicked by a Seattleite. Probably a vegan PETA liberal.
Good - he is an a$$hole
Welcome to the popcorn thread of the day. This will be good.
Where's Buzz Aldrain when you need him?
Tom Leykis is a Howard Stern wannabe, only more vulgar and less talented than Howard.
He was supposedly kicked out of the bar because he was "feeling no pain"
He was working for Boston's WRKO and got a bit tipsy at an open-bar station Christmas Party. After an argument with his wife back at their Back Bay apartment, he pushed her into a fireplace and it was reported to the police. Howie Carr (who had lost his radio slot to Leykis, truth be told) supposedly spilled the beans about the arrest to local media and said that Leykis "mistook his wife for a Duraflame Log".
Leykis soon moved to LA (after attending spousal-abuse-
rehabilitation classes) and launched his national show, talking about the issues...YOU...REALLY...CARE...ABOUT.
During his last weeks at WRKO before the move, he did
not discuss his own case on the air, under legal advice.
Only because she knows your eyes will probably be on her crotch as she kicks.
I'll bet she can't get you if she's wearing a pants suit. ;)
BTW ... Now that you injected that bit of merry mischief into the debate, just how did it come that you found she was able to do this to you?
Inquiring minds and all that.
