Kerrry had the slime machine in full attack mode last night. First, It is reported that private detectives have dug up lots of dirt on the Swifties (divorce, child support etc). Secondly. Democrat Shills were on all the cable shows...portraying Kerry as a brave American who spoke out against this evil war when it wasn't popular to do so. Yeah, right-the war was popular in the 1970's? I think not. O'Neil demonstrated far more courage then Kerry. O'Neil's position was most unpopular at the time.

Kerry is going to prove once and for all that the Vietnam veterans are indeed war criminals by breathlessly informing Americans that at least 61 guys were court-martialed. 61 out of about 3 million-wow. What a scandal. War is hell-folks. Kerry came home and in order to advance his career, he told lies and branded his band of brothers war criminals. He is at it again-I'm afraid (have I mentioned that I truly despise Kerry).

Bob Beckel was on Hannity and Colmes, and he backed Oliver North into a corner demanding that North admit American soldiers did commit atrocities. Since some (I think) 61 odd men were court martialed for this..it can not be denied. But it certainly was not common practice..After all, a brave helicopter pilot blocked Lt. Calley and threatened to shoot him if the massacre continued. This sure doesn't strike me as a guy who witnessed atrocities all the time.

Monynihan (one of the last of the decent Democrats) said 'sure atrocities happened read about it in the papers...the guilty parties will be charged, convicted and you can read about it. Can you name one other country where this is the case?' This is not a direct quote...but a summary of Moynihan's words (always liked this guy/ last of the Democratic statesmen if you ask me).

So once again the Kerry slime machine kicks into high gear. The swifties and all the other Vietnam Vets are going to be painted as a little bit slutty and a lot nutty...whack jobs really. They came home...as damaged goods-victims of the Republican war machine (never mind Democrats started the war). The kerry band of traitors wasn't really spitting on the Vietnam Vets; no they were spitting on government policies. Some men who wiped the spit of anti-war activist from their faces and who were denied jobs because people viewed them as time bombs who could go off at any minute (postal vets), might have a different opinion. John Kerry is only trying to help these men (sarcasm)...he is their friend. Well with friends like John Kerry, Vietnam vets sure don't need any enemies.

Just by CO-INCIDENCE, the local rag (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel) ran a piece describing Adm. Roy Hoffman's departure as Port Director of the City of Milwaukee.

Un-named sources said, in essence, that Hoffman was 'hard to work with.'

One named source is a VERY prominent Democrat operative/contributor in the area--

Joe Lockhart. He's the Clinton slime-meister now on board with the Kerry campaign.

In his Senate testimony, Kerry stated the "THOUSANDS" of others had committed atrocities. Thats a far cry from 61.

This is precisely the kind of tactic that might work against a group of limp-wristed professional political hacks or talking heads, but I don't think a bunch of Vietnam vets -- especially those who spent several years in POW camps -- are going to be scared off by this.

Can you imagine a Kerry administration with the powers of the Patriot Act? The Swifties would be in Gitmo by now.

Good post. You are good at quickly compiling news!

Something you said got me thinking: Kerry's defenders are spinning that it was "brave" to protest Vietnam in the 70s. I remember the 70s, and the entire pop culture was, by then, deadset against the war, It took no bravery to join the chorus.

While viewing images of Kerry from his VVAW days it hit me: Kerry was a late-comer hippie, a wannabe. He returned to America and found the scene awash with pot, patchouli, peasant dresses and hippies donning military fatiques in irony. He was jealous to join the fun, as were thousands of returning GIs.

I knew plenty of these types. They over-corrected. They missed the Hendrix/Doors/Iron Butterfly era and discovered Hait Ashbury too late. As George Harrison said, the authentic hippies were gone and it was now just a sad skid row. Kerry missed the exciting years of 66-69 and was desperate to be a true counter-culture freak.

So he, and a million more, tried too hard in 70-73 to ape the scocialist hippie protester image, but it was all too late and sad. Led Zeppelin and Alice Cooper were playing, not Donovan and Sgt Pepper Beatles. He missed it, and he's been scratching for street cred with the smelly hippie cult ever since.

Just a theory based on an observation.
