Later this morning, Max Cleland and Jim Rasmann will arrive uninvited at President Bush's ranch in Crawford to hand deliver a letter signed by nine Democratic senators urging the President to 'recognize this blatant attempt at character assassination' and publicly condemn the swift boat ads.
The letter was signed by Sens. Daniel Inouye, Tom Carper, Jon Corzine, Tom Harkin, Fritz Hollings, Frank Lautenberg, Jack Reed, Bill Nelson, and Jeff Bingaman.
Camp Kerry, which alerted the media of their plans last night, concedes that Cleland and Rassman will 'likely be turned away' --something we're not sure the Bush/Cheney team would allow to pass.
Sensing an anti-Bush backlash on a story that caught John Kerry flat footed a week ago, however, this move will generate the pictures needed to sustain the story for another news cycle.
With every passing day, new reports are fueling Camp Kerry's hopes that they can turn this issue into a positive.

WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Never bring a gun to a gunfight unless you're sure you'll win it. Campaign Kerry just slammed the door in their nose again. I feel sorry for the idiots running their campaign.
I want to see a copy of that letter...I only heard Carl read a very small portion of what he said will be handed to the visiting Kerry delegation.
Stay tuned.
Yay sissyjane...you heard Carl, too!!
That means that his internal polling is showing really bad things..
Oooooh. Great response. Bring up Kerry's anti-war activities. Take it right back to him.
I was jumping up and down yelling, so didn't hear all of it, but what I heard Bush is BRINGING IT ON-BIG TIME!!!!!!
Woo Hoooo!!!!!!!!!!
I think that it is within bounds to take note of an historical event like Kerry's vaunted testimony before a Senate Committee.
That's not the same as harping on issues that one doesn't have firsthand knowledge about (like Bush will never ever question Kerry's service in Vietnam).
There's something ironic about a former Senator who was thrown out of office by his constituents two years ago dellivering a letter from nine current Senators.
Freep potential? How are they moving around--will they be at the airports or taking their Learjets?
Guess who the campaign manager was for the 1994 Foley/Nethercutt matchup when, for the first time since the 1800's a sitting Speaker of the House was defeated?
Robert Shrum
Why this guy is still in politics is amazing to me.
Now that's funny. LOL
Tell them to take a "HUCKING FIKE"

The only section they don't already control, a few hundred vets who remember Kerry from his mere 4 months in Viet Nam 35 years ago, has some serious questions for Kerry to answer.
He is so hopping mad that he is even ASKED such honest, necessary questions, that he wants the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES to make the vets stop asking!
Besides, the Swiftees have already said they would not respect the President's wishes if he asked them to stop. Kerry forgot that our leader is not a dictator and cannot command people to stop talking. Maybe he is running for leader of the wrong country.
Did Michael Moore cook up this stunt for Kerry? It's exactly his M.O.
errand boy...
This just keeps getting better and better. I love that they are billing this as an unexpected visit. The Kerry campaign is Wile E. Coyote personified.
