No, he never recovered. Did launch Jamie McMurray's Winston career, though.

It's entirely possible that Sochi was not a target at all other than the plane's original destination.
With Putin on vacation, he's likely to be nowhere near a commerical or military airport except for those few momements when he's boarding the Russian version of AF1. Trying to hit him with an airliner would be an tremendously difficult task.
It is much more simple to toss bombs in with the luggage or have a shoebomber ride the planes in to their demise.
What we should be asking is: Would Russia pull a Spain, become a full team player in the WOT or insist they get their own revenge without cooperating?

I'm coming up short here too... of cold hard facts. What we have available to us at the present time are preliminary data and bad feelings. My only point was that declaring this a terrorist attack without having even basic hard facts in front of us is getting a little ahead of ourselves; in my opinion.
Apparently you disagree with the head of the Russia Special Forces who said his initial thoughts were terrorism. I agree with him. Both planes took off from the same airport, and there was not any radio contact as the planes went down. One was known to have blown up in the air. I have little doubt this was done by the Checyinians.
We have an apartment in Volgograd where the plane was headed that crashed in Tula. The second plane crashed near Rostov-on-Don which is about 200 miles east of Volgograd.

I've read this 4 times and I still don't understand what in the world it means. If you could clarify what you were saying, I'd be happy to respond.

Good questions. Horrid thought, but good question.

But wouldn't fuel contamination have affected more than two planes? Bottom of the tank of an old, rusty tanker truck??
Don't get me wrong. We know what happened here. I was just trying to think of a any other reason that two planes could go in simultaneously.

Fuel contamination? That could bring down two planes around the same time. That would bring down every plane that filled up at the Moscow airport, and I'm sure there were more than two.
And wouldn't the pilots have time to radio in distress reports? The only reports we have indicate catastrophic failure in the sky.

LATEST AP UPDATE:The Interfax news agency said emergency workers spotted a fire about 600 miles south of Moscow in the region where the second plane went missing.

They must have been the only two planes that bothered to fuel up then? Not a very or even remotely likely scenario, but thank for playing.

No way fuel contamination. Loss of engines at cruise gives you plenty of tine to talk to ARTCC, plenay of glide range too.

The Muslims in the south, 11% of the population, were put in internal exile there by Stalin as they became troublesome, surprise surprise.
They now want their own breakaway state and to cut a long story short the Russians have been helping them.
The Georgians have already started hostilities firing on Russian cruise ships passing Georgia.
The Russians have taken exception to their civilian ships being fired on and the Georgians have taken exception to Muslim rebels being funded by Moscow.
However in my opinion with what is happening in Chechnya Putin should really have steered clear of Muslim rebels even if it is a case of my enemy's enemy.

I'm glad we agree on this,Pukin Dog is a favorite because you know he has all that expertise but never lords it over anyone. He never has to brag or boast or slam anyone. He is mature about it,and freepers get it. Freepers do not have to be hit in the head,we love to learn, and for the most part do not mind being corrected. Thanks Pukin Dog!!!!!!!
