Report: Two Russian Airliners Crash 8 minutes ago
By STEVE GUTTERMAN, Associated Press Writer
MOSCOW - Two Russian airliners carrying a total of more than 100 people crashed south of Moscow, the ITAR-Tass news agency reported Tuesday. There was no word on survivors.
The first plane was carrying 54 passengers and a crew of eight when it crashed in the Tula region near the village of Buchalki, the agency said, citing a duty officer at the regional center for civil defense and emergencies. The Tula region is about 110 miles south of Moscow.
The second plane was carrying 44 people when it crashed near Rostov, the agency said, citing an Inter-State Aviation Committee official. Rostov is about 600 miles south of Moscow.
Both planes were Tupolev Tu-154 jets, a medium-range airliner.

What are the odds on that timing?
Has to be terrorism.

Same airport. Night shift. One bomber, with access to luggage of both planes. That's what it'll be. Another possibility could be fuel contamination. If both airliners were fueled at nearly the same time, it could easily have happened.

It is that creepy grem, linb dude from the Twilight Zone "Terror at 20,000 Feet" starring William Shatner. He was on the wing of the plane trying to make it crash by pulling up the fuselage and getting to some critical circuitry. Shatner, a former mental patient, finally shoots the gremlin (no one else ever saw it, so they assumed Shatner was still crazy), thereby saving all the passengers.

"what are the other 300 that come to mind for you, except midair collision."
Bizarre coincidental mechanical failures. Mistaken news reports (one place down, other fine or never existed). Attack by the state of Georgia. (There was a story about a possible war erupting between Georgia and Russia posted earlier today) Extreme weather conditions we haven't been made aware of yet (sudden air pressure changes in a localized area).
There are a lot of possibilities that are as likely or more likely than a coordinated terrorist attack successfully downing two jets in Russia. I'm not discounting terrorism - merely saying that jumping to that conclusion with only preliminary data available isn't necessarily the best idea. We don't all have intelligence chiefs reporting to us. :-)

...a mid air collision...The sites of the two crashes are hundreds of miles from each other. This was no midair collision.
