Well, we have tech support on site at work as well. But we were still down for two weeks. We're in the middle of a construction project, and the contractors "forgot" to put in electricity and wiring for the networking, and converters. They also forgot to order the shelving until the last minute for our books, then forgot the bookends, and a few hundred assorted practical details went out the window. The bathrooms weren't finished, no fixtures, when they got them done there weren't enough soap containers.
They also didn't have a saftety permit from the fire department so we could work in there, so we were reading books and playing cards for most of the two weeks.

My brother is a natural computer genius. The rough parts he talked me through on the phone. He teaches me something new all the time.

My firewall is getting a lot of very bad hits tonight. This is very unusual. I'm wondering if there are some democratic hackers out there keeping busy.

Your dr. said you have ebola?!?!?! That's usually about 90% fatal! And you're not in the hospital???? Usually ebola is manifested by uncontrollable bleeding from all parts of the body, not stomach complaints . . .

I'm not doubting you're sick . . . Hope you're feeling better, whatever it is! (hopefully not ebola!!!)

WHERE do you work? Sounds like the same poeple in charge of our school addition were in charge of your work project . . . they added about 4 elementary classrooms and a library. NO closets in ANY of the rooms, no blackboards, and the teachers cannot hang anything on the walls. about 6 ft. of space for hooks and shelves in the kind. room . . .(obviously they did not consult anyone who would actually be USING the rooms as they planned them). . . a raised sidewalk up to the doors that lead into the new addition, but no guard to keep the kids from falling 4+ ft. onto the road . . . and they started this almost a year ago!

The people who can do all that computer stuff definitely have a special part of their brain specially developed . . .just like mechanics who just "know" what's wrong and how to fix it. I guess we all have "special" genes-- I can do crafts from just a basic idea and my MIL is just amazed . . . I can also cook with no recipe . . . isn't it neat God gave us all unique talents???

I admire those computer tech who have the patience to talk geeks like me thru what we have to do to "fix" our computers! Usually I give up after about two steps and just take it in. :-)

Wonder if they did that at the Ohio State Fair.

IIRC, we have the largest state fair in the country.......

On Norton '04, I get a msg window with the name of the virus which has been found and deleted. Then, on the little msg window, there is a "more info" button. I click on it and Symantics gives me a page describing what the virus does to my computer. This Gaobot is pretty devastating .. it doesn't just mess with some files, it wipes your whole computer clean as a whistle.

I work at a library, I love books. Seems like a good fit.

They put a lot of really nice aesthetic features in that look really nice. We told them what we needed and managed to NOT get the things we asked for.

We asked for more space for books, doubled the size of the buildings and have less shelf space for books. The reference people asked for the public access computers to be close to the reference desk. What they got is hookups as far as possible away to them. They need roller skates to get around.

Got this email tonight:

Dear Julie,

We're sure that you have no doubt who we'll be voting for in November. But you should also know that we would be voting for our Dad in this election even if he had not raised us, loved us, tutored us, coached us, and even listened to a few excuses from us for late curfews. We have been privileged to know our President personally and we know he is the right person to lead our country - especially when there are so many important issues at stake.

Our Dad has qualities that are needed in a good President - loyalty, humor (embarrassing as it sometimes may be), compassion, and, most importantly, integrity. We're not the only ones who see it. In fact, our friends - from varying political backgrounds - are supporting our Dad in November. Not only because of his decisions to liberate the women of Afghanistan or bring freedom to the people of Iraq, but because during the last ten years they met a man whose title was Governor or President, but who was always happy to be known as "our Dad." He made everyone feel welcome and comfortable in our house (except for the occasional boyfriend) and our friends got to know him as a really good guy.

We know that when you get to know his record as President, you too will feel compelled to participate in this year's election - and hopefully get involved in the campaign, too. We know it can be hard to find time to think about politics. We just graduated from college and are perfectly aware that schoolwork, parties, and extra-curricular activities keep students busy, away from campaigns and voting booths. In the last election, less than half of 18- to 24-year-olds were registered to vote, and only 32% of them actually did vote. Sadly, many Americans our age did not take advantage of their right to vote.

We are asking you to get involved with this campaign not only because it is the most critical election of our lifetime, but also because we have the ability to positively change our future. Please encourage your friends to sign up on the campaign's web site (www.GeorgeWBush.com) and register to vote online. At the web site you'll also find a lot of information about how to get involved in our Dad's re-election campaign. It's an easy process, and it's the best way to have a say in this year's election.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to think about some big issues. This is a really important election, and we know that with your help our Dad will win in November.

Jenna and Barbara Bush

After the meeting, he held a press opportunity, and then provided lunch for the press and cameramen attending.

Thank you for pointing that out, dear Christian4Bush, or I wouldn't have known it. I missed his press conference. :(

That is SO like our beloved President, to be kind to those who hate him. :)

Thank you for the update on your Dad, Texasflower; I've been wondering how he was. I'll continue to keep him in my prayers, and will add the poor 39 year old man in ICU to my prayers, as well.

I am sorry if I upset anyone last night regarding my comments regarding the President and VP this was the last thing I intended to do; after all my original postings on the dose were connected with how I felt the morality in England was so much lacking and that I sensed that there was a movement in America to restore integrity and morality.

I did not in anyway intend to disrespect either the office of President or the Vice President whom I hold in great regard both for their office and for them as honourable faithful family men.

Again in America I feel that you do have more respect for your President and Vice President Office that we do for our Prime Minister and Cabinet. I think also your own government have more respect for the offices than ours do it is noticeable that when interviewed the President and VP are normally referred to either Mr so and so or by their title of office also even the other Cabinet members refer to them as such. In England we do not seem to have the same respect; Cabinet members and even just members of their own party in Parliament will just refer to the Prime Minster as “Tony” when giving an interview. Sometimes even the reporter will use their Christian name or just Mr so and so very rarely do they say Mr Prime Minister or Prime Minster Blair. This again is probably a sign of the times in the UK and general erosion of standards to which I feel I possibly contributed to myself yesterday.

My postings yesterday were meant in good humour but perhaps this was not the time or place to have said what I did and I do sincerely apologise if I have offended anyone.
