It was a discussion Phancy, Guffy and I was having earlier today and 2 pictures of GWB were posted and then Phancy told me there were pictures of the VP on Yahoo. so Phancy was referring to the 2 GWB picutes and I was referring to 2 Dick Cheney pictures. Generally fooling around by the 3 of us.
**How embarrassing for Barney!!
Not at all. It was his commentary on the media.**
Nice one Wolfstar I like it!!!
Yes, I did too! You had to hold your breath a little, wondering if he was serious or not! But it ended up being hilarious!
Is she being picky or something?
LOL I'm so far behind reading I keep repeating everyone! Like I said I got nervous too. Especially after a couple of weeks ago and on e freeper started a thread about Rush keeping a secret like McGreevey's.
I've brought my computer back from the dead several times, much to my surprise doing this. Good luck!
In the meantime, MoveOn.org has announced it is releasing not one, not two, not five, but TEN new anti-Bush ads. These are made by Hollyweird directors and actors. Grrrr...
Barney is just hilarious. Never fails to make me smile.
It may go in direct contrast to the Scripture I posted, but I don't really care what the libs think. I agree with you, they would find some way to denigrate the President because of his faith, but you know what?
It's high time around here (sounds like a Southern saying) that somebody did something because it was right, not because it was popular. Oh yeah, that is what the President's aim has been for the past four years, and beyond (as TX governor).
He really seems to love Jesus with all of his heart, and that is what the libs hate about him--on BOTH sides of the aisle.
I also think that those who respect and support the President, whether or not one believes in God/Jesus/Holy Spirit/spiritual things, or is as vocal about it, respect him greatly because he is a man of faith and of principle, who holds in high regard the OFFICE of the President of the United States of America.
Paul the Apostle, from whose mouth that Scripture originated, is an ancient example of how people can change, and be instantaneously hated for it. As Saul of Tarsus, he was zealous for the things of God, though in his zeal he thought that this Christianity thing was disrespectful to God. (Proof that you can be zealous and wrong at the same time).
Bible scholars, and even casual readers, know that he consented to the stoning death of the deacon Stephen, and afterwards tried to have Christians persecuted, even executed. One knock off of his "high horse" by the Almighty and a "heavenly mandate" later, here is the same Saul now preaching the message of the same Christ whose followers he just tried to kill.
The leaders of the day didn't like him, once he crossed over. Can you imagine what they would have said, in today's political climate?
"This is a ploy by the evil nasty Bible-thumping Republicans!"
"Separation of church and state!!!"
"Fascist! Dictator! Nazi!" (and so on)
Paul, as he was soonafter known, spent much of his post-conversion life in jail, because of his faith. It was from there that he wrote the aforementioned Scripture about feeding your hungry enemy (in fact, he quoted it from the Old Testament), as well as many other encouragements. He eventually was martyred for his faith, but even today, his writings continue to encourage and inspire millions.
Whether or not President Bush wins a second term, and I pray that he does, I believe that a generation will look back on this time and see that we had someone in the White House who was unashamed to say that this was indeed "one nation, under God".
Sorry for the long post in the Dose--I just felt it needed to be said.
They're good pics :o)
36 gold medals, ROFLMAO!!! That Barney is a record-smasher for sure.
((((hugs))))
The President had a funny exchange with the press that I'm including for your enjoyment.
Last question. Yes. Hold on. Yes, Mark.
Q Thank you. Sir, how is work coming --
THE PRESIDENT: You've got your earphones on so you're speaking very loudly. (Laughter.)
Q Sorry, didn't mean to do that. How is work coming on your convention speech? What should we expect from it? And are you worried about violent protests at the convention?
THE PRESIDENT: Let's see. You know, I -- people are allowed to express themselves in democracies, and hopefully they'll do so in a peaceful way.
In terms of the speech, I'm working on it. But I don't want to give you any tidbits --
Q Just a little bit.
THE PRESIDENT: I don't want to give you any tidbits, for fear that you may not pay attention when I actually stand up there and deliver it. (Laughter.)
Q Oh, he'll pay attention.
THE PRESIDENT: You think he will? (Laughter.) I'm looking forward to giving it. I want to talk about what I intend to do. We've got a great record, when you think about it -- led the world and the war on terror; the world is safer as a result of the actions we've taken; Afghanistan is no longer run by the Taliban; Saddam Hussein sits in a prison cell; Muammar Qaddafi has gotten rid of his weapons; Pakistan is an ally in the war on terror. There's more work to be done in fighting off these terrorists. I clearly see that. I understand that we've got to use all resources at our disposal to find and bring these people to justice.
When you think about domestic politics, we've faced a recession, had tax cuts that encouraged economic growth and vitality. We've helped reform a education system with the No Child Left Behind Act. We've reformed Medicare, first administration ever to get Congress to move forward on Medicare reform. We got trade promotion authority; it opened up more markets for U.S. entrepreneurs and farmers and manufacturers.
[Then the paragraph that I included as the quote of the day appears here.]
Great to hear your dad is doing better and power of prayer is awsome. Will certainly remember the other gentleman in my prayers tonight.
The theme from "The Magnificent Seven" is going through my mind. Those five, plus Tommy Franks and John Ashcroft.
Gotta do some housework! Be back in a bit.
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's health crisis. I'll add my prayers to those of everyone else.
Listen, if I could get away with it, I'd go to the lobby of the Los Angeles Times and do exactly the same thing Barney did. [snicker]
You're right, I do need to. I guess I was lazy and also, never know what to download--if it's "real" or not. But that's a good suggestion, to look at other threads. Most FReepers are pretty knowledgeable and honest, right? :-)
GRRRRRRRRRr is right!!! But I'm sure Kerry will be on tomorrow, demanding they're stopped, right?
Yeah, right.
