We are doing ok. We got to see some of our other relatives, too. Went out to eat at a Mexican Restaurant which was good. My niece had some pictures of my mom's 100th birthday party back in May. We were down for her real birthday and could not make it back for the large one. We were very tired when we got home about 6:30 last night. Just our daughter and I went.

He looks healthier than when he first took office. Most presidents look a bit haggard after 4 years of incredible pressure. Not him.

I wanted to post an update on my dad for all of you that have been praying for him.
He has been in the hospital for 8 days now. The first 5 days he was in critical condition with a heart attack, congestive heart failure, pneumonia and renal failure. He is a diabetic also.
Well, they have done dialysis 4 times (he was not on dialysis before) which finally removed most of the fluid.
The heart attack was considered an "evolving heart attack" for days, but the damage has now stopped.
His breathing is much better now and he sat up yesterday for about 2 hours.
That is the first time he has been up since this happened.
So, he is doing really well right now and he never had to be put on the ventilator. He is still in ICU, but seems to be doing well.
(There is a 39 year old man in ICU right next to him that has been on a vent for 9 days and they have not been able to wean him off yet. He has 5 children at home. Would you say a little prayer for him also?)
Thank you so much for all of the prayers. He began to improve within hours of your prayers.
FR has the very best prayer warriors!

From experience with my FIL, it's almost impossible to get some people to accept reality, no matter how much evidence they're presented with. Now, part of FIL's problem is that NO ONE has forced him to accept reality for the last 35+ years--with his money and influence around here people are just afraid to. As the situation with him gets worse and worse, people are beginning to try to get him to accept reality, but he just twists, manipulates, and if all else fails he tries to yell louder than anyone else.
I don't know if this is the same iwth Kerry, but with his (wives!!!) money, and his position of power, and the media mouths on his side talking louder and more than anyone else . . . I wonder if he'll ever accept it. Everyone around him (not "us" of course, but the Libs and Dems) has let him hold onto his delusional ideas, and even encouraged them, so what reason does he have to accept reality?
Just heard Bob Dole on the news wondering how he could have gotten three Purple Hearts without bleeding . . . I have the feeling something indisputable and devastating is going to come out, and soon . . . (yes, I know all of the swiftboat men have devastating info, but something even bigger!) . . . and at the same time someone coming out in defense of the President . . . anyone else have the same feeling?

Barney is a breath of fresh air. I read on another thread why he had to "catch up." I just love dogs. They often have the most marvelous sense of timing and humor.
