WTF! This has nothing to do with Bush, what the hell happened to free speech? A curse on both parties.

Not- Pres. Bush has more brains than to ask them to pull
ad.,.,all he has to say is- The campaigns all have outside groups presenting their viewpoints...that is what "free
speech" is about. His statement said ..all Ads should
use more restraint..didn't point out the Ads by O'Neil
and the Vietnam veterans...media trying to make it look like he just is pointing at the good guys....NOT.

stupid as a fox - the SBV ads are effective, if their influence is starting to decline. the Dem's ads have yet to see the light of day.

The SBV get's their point across, but the rules change before they can be effectively counterattacked.

kinda like sucker punching the other guy, them suing for peace.

John Kerry said he condemned the Moveon.Org ad. Does that mean Kerry is in violation?

This is about the Truth.

This isn't about whether it helps or harms Bush's election chances.

It is popular among people here because we wish to see the Veterans smeared by Kerry, Fonda, and all the anti-war protesters of that day receive their due honor as well as justice against the people that betrayed them and this country.

If it favorably affects G.W., an added bonus. If it hurts him, we'll work harder to compensate. This has nothing to do with the presidential election, at least for me.

You truly are a contrarian, aren't you?

The election is not between liars and truth-tellers or pretty boys and crusty curmudgeons but about staying the course or slipping over the side, swimming toward the siren's call.

Kerry's swiftboat is close to the rocks, why not rescue it?

Even the Coast Guard takes care of floundering refugees.

Bush is on Fox News now. Standing with Rumsfeld, Rice, Cheney, and Gen. Meyers. Taking questions from press. He's saying (again) about the 527's being responsible for the ads and that he thought he had gotten rid of all the unregulated money when he signed McCain-Feingold. Stop all of them , no 527's, and I hope my opponent will join me to get rid of ALL 527's.

Everyone read my post #99 and you will see what Bush said. It has nothing to do with Swift Boat only!

I know the whole thing is very popular among Freepers, but I'm not sure it plays as well out there in the general population. So far, the whole controversy hasn't affected the polls much, one way or another. We'll see

I hate to break it to you bud, but it looks like it is having an effect out there in the "general population", and the Swift Vets really aren't that concerned about the feelings of squeamish FReepers. They're not part of the re-elect G.W. effort, despite what some think.

President Bush has condemned all 527 -- not just specifically the SBVT ads.

This whole article is false and should be pulled immediately so as not to create demoralization and panice amongst freepers based on false information!

Bush is being questioned about this right now in the presser at his Crawford match. He called for a ban on this ad (the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth) AND all other (527) ads.

I didn't think the Swifties were doing this to support Bush, but to keep Kerry out of the WH. I realize the effect is the same.

Okay; fair enogh.

The McLame-Swinegold CFR started it, and I blame Bush for signing it. He should have gone on TV, used his 'bully pulpit' to explain to America what damage it would do to the First Amendment and all related processes.

Is it me, or has FR just gotten really s-l-o-w in the last 10-15mins?

O'Niell was just on Rush, and Rush read the statement that Bush said stop all 527 ads. O'Neill said forget it, he is in it for the principle and will not quit - ever. He has got more ads coming out. They collected $330,000 in one day!

Kerry is toast.

Knowing Kerry will NEVER ask Moron.org to remove their ads, the first time Kerry mentions the Swift Boat ads in a debate, Bush can nail him by saying "I called for an end to the ads, but you never once called for an end to those ads lying about me."

Kerry has recently called for an end to the moveon.org PAC ad that targets Bush's National Guard service.
