MCCAIN: You should be ashamed -- you should be ashamed of sponsoring an event with that man there who had attacked your own father.
BUSH: The man was not speaking for me. If you want to know my opinion about you, John, you served our country admirably and strongly, and I'm proud of your record, just like you are.
And I don't appreciate what he said about my dad, either. But let me say something, if you're going to be -- hold me responsible for what people for me say, I'm going to do the same for you. And let me give you one example.
Warren Rudman, the man who you had as your campaign man in New Hampshire, said about the Christian Coalition that they're bigots. He talked about the Christian Coalition in a way that was incredibly strong. I know you don't believe that, do you?
MCCAIN: George, he's entitled to his opinion on that issue.
BUSH: Well, so is this man.

Because McCain is the media's favorite Republican and they love him. If McCain made a public statement demanding the ads be pulled he would get air time very quickly.
We haven't heard so much as a peep out of him.
Don't forget pat buchanan and his latest, just in time for the elections, anti-Bush book.
But McCain is allowing it and the reason escapes me.
He has a big speech comming at the convention. Perhaps they are letting the dems run with it until they chop their legs off. I just don't know....................................
McCain is only in it for himself. Afterall, he has the media on his side, because the media keeps calling him a "media darling". Even if something going on in Washington doesn't involve McCain, McCain is the "go to guy" as far as the media is concerned.
BINGO!
Unfortunately for the Republicans and Conservative America, there are people like McCain, and now pat buchanan again, who are so bitter, petty and self absorbed, they will sell out the nation for their own purposes.
Agreed. I'd even take Sam Nunn out of retirement.
He's probably the most self-absorbed politician, short of the Clintons, that I have seen in a while.
I don't think that McCain would pull media time if it embarrassed the Dems. The media is for the Dems. They put up with McCain because they hope he runs on the Republican ticket so that they can slap at the right wing of the Republican party.
Does anyone here believe that if McCain were the Republican nominee anything would be any different about the media coverage of the Swiftvets? EVERYTHING would be the same.
Everything WOULD be the same. McCain would be denouncing the Swiftee's and the media would be trashing them.
They would give McCain air time. McCain is a walking ego with an attitude. Whichever network/reporter didn't give him air time would never get another anti-Bush statement out of him again.
If a reporter or reporterette failed to stick a microphone in front of McCain's face, they'd get fired.
Look at his vicious meltdown during the debates...the man when bonkers. If a reporter ever crossed him...wow!
...And John McCain and Howard Dean wonder why the hell they lost.
What? Buke's already left the GOP. It was more dramatic than an opus from a ex-Freeper.
Of course, he's no longer a member of the Reform Party either...because he destroyed it.
Look at it this way, buchanan's latest efforts to throw the election to the left can be a blessing in disguise. It's not just in time for the elections, it's also in time for Christmas shopping. His latest version of the same ol' book would make an excellent gift for that hard to buy for skinhead on your shopping list.
And the best thing is, in just three days it's price has dropped from $24.95 to $16.97...plummeting faster then his last presidental campaign.
McCain, definitely. Keyes? As much as I love the guy's personal stances and his speaking ability, he has a tendency to just go goofy.
I haven't even bothered to check out the Illinois situation. He's going to get his clock cleaned by Obama. The only good thing about that whole situation is that Mike Ditka isn't running.
Come to think of it, it's a good thing for Ditka, too. It would ruin his image to get his zazzkict by a guy you'd think he could break in half over his knee.
Well .. from the looks of that lump on the side of his face, his goose isn't doing too well.
