Let's thank the protestors - their ugliness is the true visage of the modern Democrat party, and they do everything they can to make the American public see it.

Regards, Ivan

This is misleading: At St Mark’s last week, activists emphasised their commitment to non-violent protest. One anarchist group will hold a tea party outside the mayor’s mansion...

It's the Yippies, and their "tea" party consists of smoking pot (60s slang referred to pot as tea).

In a park nearby another man, inexplicably attired in a red minidress, handed out invitations to a “war crimes tribunal” where President George W Bush would be “judged by the American people”.

Any guy who approaches me while wearing a minidress is in danger of getting a knuckle sandwich.

On the balance this is a pretty fair article. Especially considering it's from the Times. But they blew it with this sentence...
"Despite evidence that the veterans group is politically motivated and that several members have lied or contradicted themselves, the affair has swamped the Democratic campaign."
I've seen NO evidence any of them have lied, and the only contridictions are coming from the Kerry campaign. But considering the rest of the crap I've read today, I'll give the Times at least a B+ for effort. I guess the latest democrat talking points haven't made it across the pond yet.

BRAVO SIERRA. Jabba the Nadler told us just this week that these will be peaceful expressions of the first amendment.

Let's see, acid and nail studded potatoes. This ought to show just how dims play the political game. Sadly, if this were to happen, there will be some pubbies that will be paying the ultimate price.

"Inexplicably"?

Mind you - this is the Lower East Side.

That's no way to describe the wife of the junior senator from Massachusetts! :)

At the back of many Democrat minds are memories of their party’s 1968 convention in Chicago, when rioting against the Vietnam war was widely seen as having damaged the campaign of Hubert Humphrey, the party’s presidential nominee who crashed to defeat against Richard Nixon.

This is a totally different scenario. In 1968, the chaos in the street reflected the chaos in the Democratic party. The internal problems experienced in the convention included multiple conflicts between prowar, antiwar, ethnic, leftist, and mainstream Democrats. The television coverage of the battles on the street was no more than a caricature of the battles within the party.

We have a different situation in New York. I don't think many people will see the grungy group of protesters as having any link to the Republican party. The worry for the Democrats is that some of these people will be rightfully attached to their ticket and they have no one to blame but themselves. The constant pot stirring, demogoguery, and high profile lying agitate these believers to come forward now and there is no way the Dems will be able to control it. It will correctly be linked to them as the party of the leftist lunacy.

The good thing is, no matter what they do, they are going to look like a bunch of nutcases and that's going to embarrass a lot of "normal" democrats. It may well be the thing that tips them away from the Democrat party.

Have you seen some of those protesters? LOL!

After the huge protests hit would be a great time for the Pubs to show some 1970s clips of Kerry involved in those demonstrations. Make the link for the people between the Dems of 70s and the Dems of today. Same ol' Leftists.

The Swiftees are NOT in any way subsidized nor affiliated with the GOP/RNC;unlike the connection between the Dems and MoveOn etc.!

Kerry wants it to still be 1968,or 1972,so he'll have to live with the flap over his lies.

It appears that "THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW HISTORY,ARE DOOMED TO REPEAT IT",holds true. LOL

Every protester, every little anarchist and old hippie, are going to deliver a landslide for Bush. They just can't control themselves,no matter WHAT some "cooler heads" say. They will, unfortunately,do something terrible. And yes,as the shouted ,as some silly battle cry,in 1968,THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING. Fat lot of "good" it them back then.... and it'll generate reaction in 2004! LOL

Anarchists are going to have a tea party??!!???? I think I'd vote "anyone but Kerry" just so I wouldn't even be remotely connected to such a silly idea.

I mean, jeeesssh! And we are to take them seriously?

One anarchist group will hold a tea party outside the mayor’s mansion; other events include a “Books not Bombs youth convergence”, a “hip-hop protest and party” and a public reading of the American constitution.

This is my favorite part. If they are anarchists, what do they care what the Constitution says? I'm sure I'm not the only person who sees the irony here.

The Republicans will do all they can to make the street protesters look like the disruptive, concealed and explosive heart of the Democratic party,”

Not a big thing to do, 'cause THEY ARE!!

Good post. I work in NYC and live in the borough of Queens and I have talked to the people here and they DO NOT want the protestors here. And they are Democrats. They know that most of the protestors are not from NYC and that makes them even more madder that they would invade NY and start trouble. Don't be surprised if you read about typical NYers taking on the Protestors!
