Fox & Friends Julian Phillips Out-Kerry's Kerry On Swift Boat Veterans for Truth
Fox & Friends Weekend

Posted on 08/21/2004 4:23:26 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Julian Phillips just gave a perfect illustration of why he is many FReepers' least favorite Fox & Friends Weekend host.

In discussing the latest Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ad, in which Kerry is condemned for returning to the US and making numerous allegations of horrendous war crimes against his fellow veterans, Phillips had this to say:

"Was it wrong for Kerry to have said what he did if it's the truth?" He repeated that inanity at least once.

In his mindless defense of the Dem candidate, Phillips went further than even Kerry himself has dared. Over the course of the campaign, Kerry has acknowledged that his comments were over the top, those of a young man embittered by what he saw, blah, blah, blah. But that didn't stop Phillips from defending Kerry's slanders by suggesting that they were truthful.

I never could stand the simpering Phillips. To quote Dick Cheney, it is time for him to go.

By the way, co-host Mike Jarick wassn't much better. He whined: "is is too late for John McCain to become a candidate (for President)? He wants to get off this fruitless fight over what happened in Vietnam 35 years ago and get onto the issues that matter: the fighting in Iraq, health care, etc." Barf.

Subject: Relevancy Of Vietman

If the allegations in "Unfit for Command" are accurate
(and Kerry has rebutted ZERO of them), Kerry has deep character
flaws. No reasonable person will deliberately overlooks deep
character flaws when electing a president.

  - Kerry may have lied to get military awards and used the
awards to advance his personal ambition. He continues to
cover up or stonewall on the facts. He has not authorized
the release of his full military records.

  - Kerry either lied on Meet the Press ("I personally burned
down villages") or he is a war criminal.

  - Kerry's testimony before Congress was used against our
POW's, and helped turn a country against its own soldiers.

Name and town, name and town, name and town

If the "Fairness Doctrine" is ever revived the Fox Network is innoculated by the Saturday "Fox 'n Friends".

I suppose in that case we should do all we can to make sure that everyone gets to hear what Kerry had to say in 1971. That way we can all form our own judgement.

The latest Swift Boat Veterans ad should be made into a public service announcement and played everywhere so we can hear John Kerry in his own words.

I guess it never occurred to Williams to ask if Kerry was telling the truth, which he wasn't, why didn't Kerry report it and what would that make Kerry for not reporting it?

Sigh. Williams, when are you going to take your brain out of neutral?

Like I've said before, F&F weekends is a liberals wet dream. they picked the dum-b-est of the pack and gave them Sat morning. It's fair and balanced don't ya know,. The only thing the weekend edition is good for is to show just how stupid dumocrats are.

I think of Julian Phillips appears on Fox occasionally during the week - as Cici Connely in drag. The man makes my skin crawl.

I really find Phillips virtually unwatchable. It is painful to observe this effeminate, mindless, uncomfortable-in-his-own-skin guy. You just sense that, perhaps thanks to affirmative action, he has risen way past his level of competence, and is desperate to hang on.

Please omit that "of" above while I get another cup of coffee. Thanks.

F&F weekend version is always difficult to bear watching. I went ballistic at Phillips' comments. About the time I stopped raving, the bleached blond one spouted his inane bullsh*t. My wife suggested I turn them off if I felt that strongly. Great advice, and I took it. There will be no more Julian Phillips in my living room, and I intend to let Fox know in the strongest terms possible. This is affirmative action carried to it's silliest extreme.

Freeper N. Theknow says:
"It’s faster than a checkbook, more powerful than a Democratic demagogue, able to lay waste to a liar Kerry with the single click of a mouse. It's a little bird of truth, it's plain to see Kerry's unfit... it's... it's...SuperFReep!

Ellen Ratner's comments were hilarious. Regarding Kerry's Senate testimony in 1971, she says, "He already admitted he didn't say what he said."

She aslo asserted that O'Neill lied about his campaign contributions (this is a new one on me, I think she made it up), and the only defense she could make against the allegations in Unfit for Command was that the accusors (the Swiftees) praised Kerry in the recent past. No rebuttal to the message, purely attack the messenger.

I'm watching too. Did that Dem spokesdroid just call Zell Miller an 'opportunist turncoat'? OH MY GOD. That's it, the gloves are off.

Anyway, this was the mail I just sent to F&F...

Dear F&F:

Kerry KNOWNS he is on thin ice with the FEC, but read my lips: Kerry will assert that “The Republicans on the FEC” have tanked his complaint when they toss it out.

Don’t stop looking at this stuff and reporting new things, it’s actually going to get _worse_ before it gets better: If you haven’t read the latest entry on swiftvets.com, do so: it sounds very honest and appears accurate and doesn’t sound like it’s amenable to refutation. But maybe it is. Look, Kerry can make _all_ this go away.

1) He executes form 180 thereby releasing his records (the press _sued_ GWB and raised a flack for months before he signed the form – and then they found a couple of unaccounted for months at the end of 6 years of well-scrutinized, if uninspired, service. They have NOT tried to sue to get Kerry to give his records.).

2) He takes his supporters, the people who were ‘on his boat’ and meets the guys who were ‘on the boat next to him’, plus his ‘entire chain of command’, plus John O’Neill his ‘longtime nemesis’, and meets them in a public forum, with a moderator, and everybody explains everything

3) He also apologizes to all the Vietnam vets for his testimony in front of the Senate. (I was a young, idealistic and stupid kid...something)

4) He _also_ apologizes for his testimony, when asked whether there would be mass purges if we withdrew, that ‘I think only 3 or 5 thousand might become refugees’, when _millions_ were murdered in the subsequent purges of Vietnam, Laos and in the killing fields of Cambodia. I was _sick_ when I saw an excerpt of Kerry's testimony on (iirc) CSPAN.

That’s more or less it. It could be two or three days of work, and then it would be over. And then we can get down to the real question: why didn’t Kerry do anything of value in his 20 years in the Senate.

Also, as a character question, go re-read the book ‘Catch-22’, a book it really does sound like Kerry is familiar with: I think he went to Vietnam as an anti-war ‘warrior’, specifically to scam the system and propel his career, just like Yossarian did.

I agree. I have Fox on all week during the day starting at 6am as background (and watch when something interesting is reported). Sat morning the tv does not get turned on until 10am when the business block is broadcast. Those three Sat morn hosts are idiots.
