I have friends on SoCal, but I'll keep house in New England where I can enjoy the change of seasons and multiple personality weather. Every place else is nice to visit but nothing's lured me away from my roots yet.

Don't get discouraged. I've been here since 1998 and a good majority of my posts are never responded to. Be assured your comments ARE being read and considered. If someone takes exception to your views, they'll let you know! Just because no one responded doesn't mean your input was discarded out of hand. You never know who read your comments which prompted them to look at something from a different angle or sent them researching in another direction. They may never tell you or forget who it was that said it. Happens to me all the time (poor memory... HA!).

I was a newbie before I was newbie (I lurked for quite a while). I'm being series too. Anyone who's familiar with "hugh," "series," etc. has been here for a while. :)

FR is incredible. I registered in March, and felt sort of left out in the beginning. I find that as time goes on, more of the "old-timers" are warming up to me. It's like that in most areas of life I guess.
My dilemma is my username. When I registered, I didn't think I'd hang around for long, but something tells me that I'll become an old-timer myself. I post (and moderate) at another website. It's an entertainment and current events site. Political discussion was done away with as it was causing too much trouble. That's why I found FR. There was a poster on that board named Jenya. She was from Russia, lives in Canada, and hates the United States with a passion. She would have nasty Bush pictures in her posts.
So, when I joined FR, I used her name for the sheer irony of having my messages posted under her name. It was silly as she doesn't know, but I know.
Thing is, I sound like I'm a foreigner with this name. I'm as American as can be. I've thought of changing my username, but I'm just starting to develop an online identity here, so I don't quite know what to do.
Thanks for listening. I got runaway fingers. :)

I've been here since May and have often found it difficult to get responses/feedback from most of my posts. Seems as though there are a lot of "mini groups" that talk back and forth. Am confident that my inputs are worthy, but often get discouraged. Just my 2 cents. Umm...this is a private thread if you don't mind.

I have trouble remembering how tough it was finding conservative views and perspective before FR. Thanks Jim Rob! I check here to see what is going on and to read insightful and funny comments. FR is growing and that is good.

I'm sure glad you posted this early in the thread!! I had "vowed" to myself I was
just gonna lurk tonight. I was NOT going to log in. (Time) This just got my curiosity. Took me three series of clicking back-and-forth between my profile page and your post to figure out what you said to do (slow me.)
I am #56569. Silly thing is, I thought, "Shucks, how cool it would have been to be 56565." AND, I wonder who #666 is! ;)

Wow.
The only thing I knew about you (besides having a killer sense of humor) was that you were really old.
