KERRY CAMPAIGN GOING DOWN IN FLAMES

LOL, I actually checked the Drudge site to be sure that wasn't the actual Drudge head line. Thought maybe Kerry's polls sunk real deep.

Unfit for bookstores***Unfit for bookstores Salon ^ | August 19, 2004 | Eric Boehlert

The Kerry campaign calls on a conservative publisher to withdraw a book after the Washington Post torpedoes the veracity of a Swift boat veteran.

The Kerry campaign has told Salon that the publisher of "Unfit for Command," the book that is at the center of the attack on Kerry's military record by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, is retailing a hoax and should consider withdrawing it from bookstores. "No publisher should want to be selling a book with proven falsehoods in them, especially falsehoods that are meant to smear the military service of an American veteran," said Kerry campaign spokesman Chad Clanton. "If I were them, I'd be ducking under my desk wondering what to do. This is a serious problem."

Even some uncomfortable Republicans might breathe a sigh a relief if "Unfit for Command" were to vanish from bookstores: "I don't think the Swift Boat Veterans are helping the Republican cause," Rep. Christopher Shays, R-Conn., remarked on CNN Thursday.

While I can well believe that Kerry would be stupid enough to make such a move, I cannot believe that his advisors are stupid enough to let him do it. No, I will not believe it until I see the Kerry press release. If there is one, I predict total campaign meltdown within 48 hours. How can his media enablers continue to hammer away at Kerry's supposed attackers when their hero has called for his critics to be gagged without appearing to endorse his position on curbing free speech?

Good one.

What do you tell your children when they hear John Kerry on the nightly news?

“Hey kids... roll up the windows... we're passing a farm!”

This is only allowable if you are an anti-war activist.

This is about the dumbest thing I have ever seen. The Kerry Campaign has just guaranteed that Unfit For Command will be the centerpiece of the rest of the campaign.

Gawd, I just CANNOT wait for Rush Limbaugh to comment on this one!

Senator Kerry's campaign may have just created its own Howard Dean moment with this totally stupid suggestion.

Remember an old saying that doing a dumb thing is "shooting your own foot"? I think Kerry's campaign are shooting their own foots with a cannon at the rate they are going.

If it is hurting him, how come those polls are up for him.

Forget those "polls" they're designed to fire up voters. Both campaigns want the election to appear real close so they can continue to arouse the electorate.

Just think of the joy we'll share on Nov 3, that's the goal.

BWAHAHAHA! He'll just help sell another half million books with that approach.

What a whining pansy. Just release ALL your records Kerry and prove it's a falsehood.

Strange I've never heard him denounce Michael Moore for all his totally made up BS but he manages to find a problem with guys that are telling the truth.
