THE woman marrying Bobby Fischer, the chess legend threatened with deportation to the United States, reacted with shock yesterday to the news that he already has a common-law wife and a four-year-old daughter in the Philippines.
Miyoko Watai, 59, acting president of the Japan Chess Association, said: "I didnt know. Bobby has never told me this.
"I have asked him in the past if he had a child and he never said anything. He told me that he is single."
Fischer, 61, was arrested at Tokyos Narita Airport in July and is being held pending deportation for travelling on an expired passport.
Ping!
Did He meet his common law wife in Olongapo?
I heard of those marriages.
He's an orafice of mythic proportion. He's a skinnier Michael Moore with none of the personality.
but we've known that. He even supported the terrorists who attacked on 911 from what I hear.
Potential bride: "Are you married? Do you have children?"
Chess master: "Well, mfffgrtdachrinscant. Ichscibibble mfrrsdanscabtgtaschg. Is that clear?"
Potential bride: "OK."
He's a certifiable whack job, and she probably isn't far behind...
One from the Philippines, one in Japan . . . I'd have figured Bobby would have had a Czech mate.
I guess all he has now is a stalemate. Better castle.
This guy is a real communicator. He and my ex would get along great.
I was raised by Filipino's and it was common practice for families to pay Americans to marry their daughters to get her foot in the door here.
Illegal but they did it all the time.
Marry for two years and then divorce.
THat was growing up don't know how it is now a days.
Ooooh! That was a stinker.
Bobby wanted the Bishop to marry them, but he wouldn't.
....felt that the poor girl was getting Rooked......
Besides, Bobby has no money. He even had to Pawn a lot of his old trophies.
I guess they'll just have to horse around all Knight now.....

What specifically did you hear?
I heard he beat Spassky in the World chess championship, handing America a psychological victory against the Soviets.
Maybe that didn't happen after all...
Fischer had several interviews with a local Phillipines radio station a couple of years back. They are available to listen to someplace on the internet, I can't remember where, but I heard them about 2 years ago. In one of those interviews he stated his support for the 9/11 terrorists.
But, it is also apparent from listening to the interviews that he is quite mentally ill. He rambles on and on and every question asked him is turned into a meandering swipe at "the Joos" who run the USA and who are determined to destroy him personally.
It's really pretty sad to listen to them.
My eyes are bleeding from reading that. Thanks.
hahahahaha... gotta love Freeper puns
