August 17, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Stunning new phone tapes from Scott Peterson's slay trial yesterday depicted his miffed mistress demanding to know if he slept with wife Laci the night before she vanished and Peterson insisting he told Laci about their affair after their first date.

You know, it's funny now that I think about it. I first saw Scott on New Years eve, and actually met him on January 5, 2003 in the search center (I remember the date because it was my last day of vacation), and I remember thinking how bizarrely distracted he was, and how he seemed totally disconnected from the search for his wife that was being organized and managed around him. At first I thought that it was perhaps an odd stress response, but realized pretty quickly that he was just zoned, distracted, almost daydreamy. He wasn't disconnected because he couldn't handle it, he was disconnected because his mind was on something else. It was one of the first things that made me not like him, and I couldn't understand how any man could behave like that with his wife missing.
Now I know...he was trying to figure out ways to lie to his girlfriend >:(
That was my thought when I read that.
Didn't the police move Amber to a safe place? It would be interesting to know if it was right after this conversation.
OMG, that's just so freakin' CREEPY..
---
Gives me chills.
Think about this too. On the second date Amber gave him a key to her place. He could have went to Walmart or somewhere and made a copy he could have had keys to her home.
I'm thinking this too. On the second date he is in her home he could have cased it all before she got home. He could have gone through all her stuff and found out everything about her- ss#, acct #, ph#'s, etc.
I checked your profile to see where you got your law degree, but couldn't find it.
If there's a conviction, and if it's overturned, it will not be because of these phone calls.
In American criminal law, whether a person is in custody during interrogation is one PIVOTAL point in determining whether to deem the interrogation admissible or not, proper or not. Your statement "the fact that it was not a custodial interrogation is irrelevant" is completely wrong.
I have a sneaking feeling that you have not followed this case the way many of us have, and that you are just another online male who enjoys the hell out of arguing and bulling around. I would suggest to you that you should read the transcripts of the preliminary proceedings from this case, in which the subject of the wiretaps was exhaustively briefed by both sides. There is a set procedure for doing it in California. This procedure was followed. Among other things, a judge must continually supervise the process, and one did.
I wonder where you got the idea that Amber Frey was "coerced". It didn't come from any of the material that we have seen to date.
"In the Peterson case, the police were searching for evidence, having no evidence prior to that he had committed the crime, only suspicion."
In the above statement, you prove that you know nothing about the facts of this case. Any poster who has followed this case, whether with or without a law degree, can give the lie to your statement above about the police having had "no evidence" when the wiretaps began. Furthermore, if the police were required to have evidence beyond a reasonable doubt before investigating, that would sort of make investigation superfluous, wouldn't it?
While I understand that it is a peculiarity of some middle-aged men that they enjoy haranguing and arguing with others, and enjoy verbal wrestling matches, I would urge you to read up on a subject before you jump in and make absolute statements about it. You are clearly way behind on what has happened in this case. I can point you to the preliminary transcripts if you wish.
As for the police having "fixated" on Peterson as "the actual doer, I guess it was that "fixation" that caused them to carefully and excruciatingly check out the alibis of Laci's co-beneficiaries Brent and Amy Rocha. And to question upwards of 300 sex offenders. And to follow up on a lead that Laci was seen in Oregon. And to suspect Amber Frey herself at one point, only conceding her innocence when they had thoroughly, exhaustively checked her out, including giving her a polygraph, which she passed.
Another possibility--once again, attributable to a poster on WS--is that Scott wanted detailed descriptions of her emotions b/c, as a psychopath, he is in a continuing process of learning how to mimic the emotions of real people, and wants to learn all about the "subject matter" he is "studying".
Yes, you're the only one. Something I find hilarious is the sort of skank that has nothing better to do than drop in like a harpy, sh** on a thread he/she has no interest in, and fly off.
I really, really love your imagery!!
And you've got a point: the only person who seems to have not been looking for Laci was Scott. How powerful he must have felt, being the only person in the whole crowd who knew the truth!
Really! You know, I couldn't find anything on which to hang that theory, intriguing as it was. Except maybe the mysterious videotape that shows a long segment of "someone mixing chemicals".
But as his screwed-up mind unfolds on these tapes, I am almost ready to believe that it is LIKELY that he did poison her slowly! He seems just the type.
And if he really does enjoy the suffering of others, what better way to gratify such a hobby than to periodically cause Laci to suffer the pain from the poison?
Yes, Scott certainly seems to have a talent for letting his mind be elsewhere than where his body is!
Just something I read on another site, but one poster said that a talking head on TV claimed the red sweater thing happened around the time the police tracked Scott to within a mile of Amber's home.
Oh... my... God!!!
I wonder when she had her locks changed!!
How appropriate!! Now that one was your best yet!!!
He had to know long ago of these tapes, and heard them. I don't think he can use it now, as if these were "sprung" on him. They are either "allowable" or not.
Besides that, I am overjoyed that this sleasbag has to weave his way through this !!!!
The idea of Amber Frey as a "trophy girl" who'll only go out with 6-figure incomes is laughable. Did I read that her latest child was fathered by a fellow massage therapist?
Hi Jackie!
Yes, it's better to check state laws before proceeding with phone taping. I guess the laws are different all over.
Young Justin will have very strong and extraordinary fingers.
Just read that Sharon confronted that twit Horowitz about his national-TV statement that Laci was having an adulterous affair and was pregnant with a child who was not her husband's.
I think it's safe to assume that Sharon's off the "Xanax".
