Sen. Intel Chief Calls on Kerry to Release Records
Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Pat Roberts called on Sen. John Kerry to release his Intelligence Committee attendance records on Sunday - as controversy swirled over claims that the top Democrat was mostly a no-show during important hearings.
"The easiest way out of this is for John Kerry and John Edwards to request [Committee Vice Chairman] Sen. Rockefeller and myself to release the attendance [records]," Roberts told NBC's "Meet the Press." Roberts urged that any Kerry record release should cover "not only of the public hearings, which they have rebutted, but the closed hearings," adding, "It is important, because you have to be in attendance to learn the job."
The Kerry campaign has acknowledged that the Massachusetts Democrat missed scores of public hearings, but insisted he attended "private" sessions and is a "hard-working" member of the Intelligence Committee.
Asked if the "hard-working" description was accurate, Sen. Roberts declined to back Kerry up.
"Well, 'hard-working member' is in the eyes of the beholder," he told "Meet the Press."
A Bush Cheney campaign commercial set to debut on Monday accuses Kerry of being absent for 76 percent of the Intelligence Committee's hearings, noting that he was completely AWOL for the entire year after the 9/11 attacks.
"That same year," the ad says, "Sen. Kerry proposed slashing the intelligence budget by $6 billion."
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Jane Harman, who appeared on "Meet the Press" with Roberts, said she couldn't defend Kerry's Intelligence Committee attendance record.
"I don't know what the facts are and I really can't speak to that," she explained.
bump for a plan!
>A Bush Cheney campaign commercial set to debut on Monday accuses Kerry of being absent for 76 percent of the Intelligence Committee's hearings, noting that he was completely AWOL for the entire year after the 9/11 attacks. <
This is NOT WHAT THE COMMERCIAL SAYS.
Why are Senate attendance records not public?
Kerry must authorize that the record be released directly to the NYT (liberal) and the Washington Post (conservative). Then they can make them public. Kerry can do that. He can direct his record to any party he wants.
If the commercial is set to debut on Monday, where can I see it?
Have they released it on the GOP site?
Kerry's is only a Buddhist gesture. The text was a quote from someone else's post
>Have they released it on the GOP site?<
Yes on the Bush site.
I listened and watched the commercial several times. Kerry has missed 76% of meetings for his entire tenure on Intelligence Committee. There is distinct pause and then "year after the first WTC attack, he missed all meetings and that same year proposed slashing intelligence budget."

They screamed to the heavens, day after day, for Bush to release his full service record. But now that serious and credible accusations have been lodged against their candidate, we hear not a peep out of them about Kerry releasing his service records to the media.
You are sooooo right. The double standard, the highly partisan reporting of the liberal mass media are truly breathtaking in this election season.

Are you reading this? I'm sure that George and Dick can slide this topic into a slick sound bite.
Why won't Kerry release the records....unless the contain NEGATIVE DATA..........
Write to Newsmax. They made the mistake. NOT THE AD.
I have and I agree. I am saying we need to understand it before we misquote it and get accused of lying.
John Kerry is the AWOL Senator/candidate for President!
My thanks to Traumer, Arrowhead1952 and Conspiracy Guy for the concept of the above pic
He was too busy being a hero.
I don't think Newsmax should be off the hook for misstating what was in the ad.
Somehow, someway the libs will blame the Republicans.
To err is human -- something Republicans cannot afford to be.
