Iraq invasion was right for more reasons than the Left can admit

So many people according to the Liberal media have spun the so-called facts that most American's were against the Iraq invasion.

Could there be other reasons we invaded other than Sadaam and MWD's?

Absolutely. We are an economy of oil and not even the Eco-terrorists so determined to detroy our society in order to save the enviornment can travel without this precious commodity no matter how green and efficient their vehicles.

Iraq is a flash point for the Middle East. It is strategically centered between all players in that regional abyss. It is here that we must begin the process of containing Islamic Fundamentalic expansion before it reaches the oil fields of Saudi Arabia.

I was 13 at the time of the Arab oil embargo of 1973 after the Yom Kippur war with Israel. Gas lines were long and most of the time there was no gas period to be had once you made it to the pump. Sitting in line for an hour and a half to fill up is not something I hope ever to see again.

If we do not secure the Middle East and our politicians continue to succumb to the pressures of radical enviornmentalsits who continually block the exploration of Alaskan oil then I fear that 1973 could again show itself.

We are not self sufficient regarding our energy needs nor will we be any time soon. The ugly fact is that we like our SUV's and our comfort, I know I do. In order to move forward we need to contain not only Iraq but Iran which in my opinion will be the initiator of a nuclear war with Israel.

If this comes to pass then where will we be as a country?

The Middle East and their Islamic Naziism had to be confronted somewhere after we were attacked at home.

..."Iraq is a flash point for the Middle East. It is strategically centered between all players in that regional abyss. It is here that we must begin the process of containing Islamic Fundamentalic expansion before it reaches the oil fields of Saudi Arabia."...

Unfortunately, too many Iraqis are willing to sit on their hands, and watch Islamic militants with guns dictate their future. People who love 'strongmen' and love 'dictators' tend to do that. Iraq is loaded with thugs and with passive people = a perfect combination for a dictator.

Our efforts will probably fail in most of Iraq. We should remain in Northern Iraq with the Kurds and remain south in Kuwait and watch the new carnage of Iraq begin.

I'm willing to bet that the 'passive Iraqis' start squealing and whining soon after we leave. Sayonarra, suckers.

Forget the SUV issue, and think about those in the cities, towns, villages, and rural areas all over the US who are impoverished. What will they do when heating, air conditioning, food, water, light, and transportation become prohibitively expensive?

Way too many people do not understand that "no blood for oil" is a thoughtless slogan. There is no way we can avoid this fight to protect the life blood (oil) of our present civilization. There are too many presently dependent on it.

Switching to "alternatives" takes too much time and also requires oil to build the "alternative production facilities".

I couldn't disagree with you more. GWB defined our enemies correctly as an Axis of Evil. And as any good general knows, you attack the weakest spot first. After being on sanctions for over a decade, Iraq was obviously the first target.

BTW, welcome to FR.

Leftie peace creeps...think 'any violence' is evil....

So when they encounter an evil person raping, murdering, robbing, beating another human being...they cross over to the other side of the street....

Then have the temerity to proclaim that it was 'their advanced morals' that caused them to cross to the other side of the street that 'more violence be averted'...

Instead of calling the 'refusal to help their fellow man'.....exactly what it is... 'COWARDICE'.....nothing more or less....

imo

We are an economy of oil

Not just us but the entire first world...and much of the developing world.

Dependence on imported oil, much of it coming from unstable areas like the Middle East, Central Asia, Nigeria, and Venezuela, will only increase in the near future as population swells and places like India, China, and South-East Asia industrialize.

The stresses will also increase as those left behind - like the Arabs - become increasingly bitter and jealous...and as other precious commodities - like fresh water and cheap land - become increasingly scarce.

It's better that we establish our dominance in our own time and in places of our choosing rather than waiting to be challanged.

3 reasons for deposing saddam -

1)WMDs and the Libya analogy/issue:

2) saddam's support for terrorism:

3) To save Iraqis and build a better middle east, which would make us safer long-term:

An last but not least, what Bush himself has said, weaving the liberation of Iraq into the global war on terror - we are taking out and removing threats, one by one:

Absolutely. We are an economy of oil and not even the Eco-terrorists so determined to detroy our society in order to save the enviornment can travel without this precious commodity no matter how green and efficient their vehicles.

The importance of oil to our economy is unquestionable, but its influence is largely concentrated in the single, specialized area of transportation fuel. Almost 3/4 of crude oil becomes transportation fuel, and over 95% of transportation fuel comes from oil. Furthermore, we have a very large, specialized, and extensive processing and distribution system for these liquid hydrocarbon fuels.

So hydrocarbons are the transportation fuel of today, and I believe that they will continue to fill that role even when they have to be manufactured instead of harvested from the Earth.

What about hydrogen as the fuel of the future? Well, these particular HYDROcarbons just happen to be almost 16% hydrogen, and represent perhaps the highest density of hydrogen available without extreme pressure and/or cryogenic temperatures. I think that the fuel of tomorrow would work just fine in the gasoline engines of today - although it will probably be a pure iso-octane or related compound instead of the mixture that is the gasoline of today. Another possibility would be a synthesized diesel fuel, but diesel is both more complex (larger molecules) and more demanding, because it must be usable at low temperature and provide sufficient lubricity for engiine use. In any case, it will be free of sulfur.

Such a fuel could also be used to run a solid-oxide type fuel cell, at a very high efficiency - perhaps twice what a diesel rotary generator can produce. But what kind of vehicle would this fuel propel? Clearly, a hybrid, something like a very few cars, and virtually EVERY long-haul locomotive in use today.

The gas lines were solely and purely the result of stupid economic policy executed by a nerd of a President who must have missed the second day of Econ 101. The lines had NOTHING to do with the relative scarcity of the product. Very simply, price controls cause shortages, every time. What you do not pay in explicit costs, you pay in IMPLICIT costs, like the value of your time waiting in line.

If we do not secure the Middle East and our politicians continue to succumb to the pressures of radical enviornmentalists who continually block the exploration of Alaskan oil then I fear that 1973 could again show itself.

We are not self sufficient regarding our energy needs nor will we be any time soon. The ugly fact is that we like our SUV's and our comfort, I know I do. In order to move forward we need to contain not only Iraq but Iran which in my opinion will be the initiator of a nuclear war with Israel.
