First lady Laura Bush is wildly popular with the American people, but not with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, who called her a GOP "attack dog" this week for speaking out on stem cell research."She's been dragged out to be a Republican attack dog on the most contentious issue, stem cell research, defending her husband's, you know, refusal to use more [stem cell] lines," Dowd told CBS "Early Show" host Hannah Storm while promoting her new book "Bushworld." "I think it's a huge mistake," warned the top Timeswoman. "Laura is this fantastic, nice, Marian-the-librarian-type who was curled up with a cat on her lap reading Dostoevsky" and "they drag Laura on to the campaign trail because she had such high approval ratings."
Of course, Dowd failed to note that the first lady's "attack" on stem cell research amounted to warning that the new science wouldn't do much to cure Alzheimer's.
That's exactly what Mr. Stem Cell Research himself, Ron P. Reagan said last month.
"Alzheimer's is a disease, ironically, that probably won't be amenable to treatment through stem cell therapies," Reagan told MSBC's Chris Matthews.
Make that, "attack dog" Ron Reagan.

It's just funny how intimidated liberal women are of conservative women. Yes, Terayza touts a woman's right to speak... Maureen Dowd jealously attacks Laura for speaking. Oh, yeah. That makes a whole lot of sense. They are so intimidated that they trip themselves up in the coat tails.
You would think Terayza would be capping the mouth of her lying husband and Maureen Dowd would be doing some research to enable her to give something more than catty reviews. but then, when you are mentally challenged, the efforts to do what is right just don't come to you. Even that Jersey governor's wife who stood by the side of her husband, holding his hand and smiling adoringly. How pathetic can you get?

My OTHER theory about Dowd is that it gripes her that Laura, who was a quiet, studious type, got the handsome jock while SHE, the vivacious Maureen, is stuck in that New York Times office looking at people like RW Apple, or Adam Clymer.

And .. I loved the little disaster about the cookies. After Laura WON by such a wide margin .. TA-RAY-ZA whined it was one of her staff who submitted the recipe. Typical liberal .. never take responsibility .. just shove it off on someone else.
