NEW YORK -- A limbless woman sued Air France Friday, saying she was prevented from boarding a flight four years ago by an airline employee who insulted her, saying "a head, one bottom and a torso cannot possibly fly on its own."
Adele Price, 42, of Mansfield, England, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, seeking unspecified damages and including the quote in her claim.
Price said she suffered emotionally, psychologically and endured large expenses as she tried to complete a trip from Manchester, England to New York on Aug. 8, 2000. She said she paid someone else to fly with her and eventually completed the trip.

Thalidomide ... this woman has probably made a comfortable living off lawsuits. She needs to suck it up and get over it.
This country is going to self destruct with political correctness, everyone getting offended to the point of SUING someone, and the general socialist/liberal nonsense of the day.
I hate when you get a regult
that always stunes my beeber
To which she should have replied: "No, kidding that's why I need to get on the plane."
Ahhh, the sensitive, polite French.
You may thank a LAWYER for all this crap!
If the employee actually said that, he should fired with bootmarks on his butt. The timing, though, is puzzling - filing four years after the incident? And for a simple (if vile) insult? This story as described doesn't pass the smell test.
Air France
no more explanation needed
I rather wish I'd said that.
Of course the rest of this story is that this limbliss woman then raised her voice at the gate agent, and the French government promptly surrendered...
It's not the insult ........it's the fact they refused to let her fly.......I'd be really pissed too......and want to make the bastards pay......I see no problem with it..
But it's the custome in tiajunna!
Is there a statute of limitations that's about to run out? Unfortunately, I know some people who pursue legal action when things go south financially and they need some cash.

That's one of the more callous things I've read on FR lately.
You don't know anything about this woman or her lawsuit history.
I happen to have known a woman born without arms due to Thalidomide given to her mother during pregnancy, and she has "sucked it up" really well. She can eat, write, dress and drive using only her feet. She leads an almost entirely independent life, and is a wife and mother. As far as I know, she has never filed even one lawsuit, not even against the pharmaceutical maker or doctor whose unwitting actions led to her condition.
I'm as anti-lawyer as anyone you'll ever meet. But I must say, if my acquaintance were treated as the woman in this story was allegedly treated, I would certainly support her suing the airline.

Clearly, she was unarmed.

Makes sense. I was wondering about the statute of limitations myself.
I could believe that the airline refused to fly her, but I can also think of legitimate reasons for doing so. In the absence of further information, concluding that this suit is a quick shake of the money tree seems reasonable.
What do you call a limbless man on your porch?
Matt.
What do you call a limbless man who hangs on a wall?

What do you call a limbless woman who isn't allowed on an airplane?
