I am no great fan of J&K, being a social conservative, but your account has failed to show this "skewing" you promised and is more just bitter towards them, I assume because you don't like them. I could care less about that, but lets be clear about a few things.

Issa was NOT avoiding him. Issa actually put his arm around him, led him up on the stage, smiling, and John acted like Issa would not give him the microphone. John had picked up one that was not active, so Issa gave him his.

But John clearly said a number of times that he had picked up the wrong one, it wasn't Issa that was avoiding him, Issa is the one trying to pretend he likes them, even though from his tone I am quite certain he loathes them (after all they are threaten his job and boxing him in a corner) it was Asa they were talking about who ran away.

Excuse me, but he really was being an ass.

I'm not getting that impression. He's a loud mouth who interrupts people to be sure, but he has passion for this issue that apparently you just aren't reading. I notice their rudeness seems to particuarly bother a number of women on here, but since the responses he was yelling about were going unanswered in this double talking, patronizing excuse fest for why they aren't doing their job, I simply don't blame him for grabbing the mic. Somebody needed to take charge and get away from the filibustering and it certainly wasn't going to be Issa.

Knowing full well he'd have access to the audio later, he YELLS to Asa, "Why are you running away?" Asa had merely walked to the side, not wanting to be part of the spectacle.

Walked away....to avoid answering John's direct questions, he was already deeply involved in a spectacle, that's no excuse. The reality is the guy got spanked in an interview a month ago and would have gotten spanked again because Asa is doing an unargueably bad job, do you deny that Asa was not on that audio countering anything that John brought up of his illogical stances? Sounds like running away to me to be sure. Is this your best evidence of the "skewing"?

I sketched John and Ken, who were both very still (which made them easy to draw)

Is this supposed to imply they weren't yelling like everyone? That they lack the crediable passion of the rest of the crowd and are only doing this for ratings? Heck you could barely hear the crowd on that audio---but even I could hear John yelling a number of times above all other voices because of the aforementioned loud-mouth. Am I supposed to believe he would be "still" during an important discussion of the immigration issues like this? That doesn't pass the smell test.

Asa promised to return in 3 months for another feeding frenzy. Someone yelled, "You mean AFTER the election," and Issa replied something like, "You got THAT right!"

Issa's such a politician.

It ended surprisingly peacefully. I heard a woman thank a border patrol agent for doing a good job, and he replied, "If they'd only LET me do my job!"

You're getting confused-no on including the radio hosts is blaming the border patrol agents. They have talked about all the emails they've gotten from them thanking them, they encouraged people to email THEM to thank them for doing their job, and one of their agents got censured (by guess who) for coming on their show admitting they were told to stop. J&K played how the people applauded after that shouting match for Asa even coming down to face them, even though his answers were totally unacceptable-(they aren't his answers, so hopefully the horrible treatment he got will be relayed to those who DO make the decisions.) But that TJ border patrol leader spoke there, J&K played the tape of how they accused Asa of not letting them do their job, how the people roared for that, how the minor changes Asa has made to policies since this started were "baby steps" and how they are still preventing them from restarting their sweeps. Asa is doing a horrible disservice to the people of CA, but what I found most striking was when he was pandering to the patrol leader, he used the word "support" which implied to me it was a warning that they are off their turf if they dare enforce the laws without permission again, Asa still hasn't learned his lesson and deserves the treatment he got.

So other than saying you don't like those two very much, what was the point of all this?

Please to not take these comments personally.

I'm not a big John and Ken fan. They have been helpful at times and unhelpful at others. I guess I'm going to have to come down on this issue like this.

We shouldn't have to demand that our leaders pay strict attention to their duty when it comes to the most sacred document this nation has. We're not talking about some obscure document that was lost for a couple of centuries until it recently resurfaced.

No, this is our Constitution. It guarantees you and I certain rights. It guarantees the states freedom from being invaded. We've seen how well the protections of states are enforced. Pray tell why I should think my rights will be guaranteed any better by these yahoos?

Yes, I think John and Ken go over the top correographing this event and their 'human sacrifice' effort to maximize their effectiveness. These guys are going for the throat, and I thank God in heaven, someone finally is.

You state that Asa and Issa didn't have much chance to address issues. I will tell you that I heard some of the early comments they made, and frankly, once they revealed what their tone was, it was all over anyway.

I don't need to hear sad stories about how people who are breaking the law are going to have their lives disrupted.  That was Asa's bright idea. Who advises this guy?   Those very people disrupt my life every morning and evening on my way to work. They have flooded our freeways, trashed our neigborhoods, and sap resources that should have created whole new freeway systems and have retarded medical advancements as our health care resources collapsed from the burden they placed on it.  Our nation's children are shortchanged as we spend billions of dollars building new schools to house the illegals.  The LAUSD school district is in a perpetual mode of building new schools, and has no chance of keeping up.  Still, our kids go wanting for classroom supplies and new textbooks.

I acually care that Spanish is now replacing English as our first language in regions around where I live. Crime, education, social norms, every aspect of our lives exists in a state of flux, due to these invaders.

They are robbing U.S. Citizens, not to mention my own children from the future they should have had.

The areas where American Grafiti were filmed, the classic movie of my genation's youth, is now a close faximilie of Tijuana, Mexico.  Business, billboards, it's the same, the signs are in Spanish.  In my home in Glendale they now place billboards in Spanish.  Is anyone listening?   In case it doesn't come through, I recent this more than I can tell you. I grew up here. My heritage has been stolen. The region of the United States where I grew up does not remind me of my youth any longer. It reminds me of one trip to Mexico when I was repulsed by the squalor their society had provided for them. Now they have spread that squalor into my home region.

Asa and Issa can blather all they wish about how unfortunate our immigration laws are for the poor Mexicans. I don't hear one word about the Citizens of the United States and the lives they have had trashed by what is happening.

These two men try to act as if they are very intelligent and we are playing with two cards out of a full deck. IMO, our founding fathers dealt with the same mentality in the mid to late 18th century.

What makes these men any different than King George's men from the 18th Century? What makes them any different than Benedict Arnold, selling out our nation for their own evil purposes?

Asa and Issa deserve to be treated like they were today. They deserve it, because this issue should have been addressed fifteen years ago, as their predicessors promised. Now, fifteen years later they have the absolute unmittigated gaul to tell us we're the problem.

I have nothing but contempt for these two. We have a situation that reached crisis stage years ago. Still they play the old shell game. They think they can buffalo the masses. I have one word for them.

Treason! Yes, I'm serious. What else can you call it.

The citizens are restless folks.  John and Ken are making headway.  Asa and Issa may act like they don't think so, but they're out here holding meetings, and that's certainly a first.

This is the beginning of the end of illegal immigration.  It wouldn't surprise me if all immigration is halted for a decade or more before this is over.  They could have taken reasonable measure, now the citizens of this nation are going to demand more than would have been necessary had this been addressed properly all along.

You realize you posted this already in 121 right? I should add to my earlier post that the reason I'm not a huge fan isn't because of social issues exactly, as much as the way they sold out their good friend, and guy they knew was the best man for the job-Tom McClintock, because they wanted the easy victory. I stopped listening to them since then, but their populists efforts to actually MAKE CHANGE on this issue have gladly made me an every day listener again.

Credit must be given, Asa never would have given the border agents the new powers on OTM if they hadn't heard them ranting about the terrorists coming over the border. It is a baby step, but instead of drivers licenses being sold out-we're getting baby steps IN OUR direction. Congrats J&K. Now full speed ahead with the sacrafice!

Yes, but that first post had even more spelling and gramatical errors than the second. LOL, I wanted to post a little better version.

Did you go? Listened to the broadcast on the radio this afternoon. Going to download the archive from their site later tonite.

Wish I could have been there, I've been dying for something like this to happen...but it sounded like you guys had it well in hand.

A little angry...but let's face it. I've become more than a little angry listening to their weak responses to straight questions. Complete and total bullspit...surprised everyone didn't rush the stage and whup their butts. Hold them down and ask them after each smack to the face "do ya git it yet?" No? Smack. "how bout now"...

To the FReepers that went. Good Job, thank you.

LOL, I wanted to post a little better version.

Tis a fine sentiment and worth repeating. I too live in the valley and cry inside when I see how run down some of the areas of Canoga Park and Van Nuys have become with Mexico exporting its poor to us. Out Of Staters have no idea how quickly this has gotten bad, not a clue.

Someday we should put together a collage of before-and-after photos the next time one of these Cheap Labor Republicans pops up and starts blathering about jobs no one else wants, or some other tired cliche from their lilly white suburban neighborhoods in the northeast.

Did you go?

Had to work, if Issa had given us a bit more time, I could have swung it, but I think that was Daryl's plan all along. Still it sounds like they have over a thousand angry citizens there.

A little angry...but let's face it. I've become more than a little angry listening to their weak responses to straight questions.

The truth is on our side, and everyone knows it. Onward ho!

You could show pictures of rapes, murders, gang activity, border agents killed, drive bys, drug trafficing, children not learning, citizens being refused emergency services...

The list goes on and on. The articles are out there revealing what's going on. Screw the U.S. citizen, those poor folks are deserving of everything, we nothing.

Outstanding post. Treason is the right word.

The citizens are restless folks.

That's an understatement. I heard the audio and the attitude and anger of the people came across loud and clear. You can bet, Hutchinson couldn't wait to get the hell out of there.

"Wonder how much longer these politicos can keep the peasants from kicking down their gates."

Heheheheh, see my tag line, it's probably closer than all of us realize. LOTS of Americans are beyond fed up.

"But John and Ken got great ratings."

The truth is a popular item after all.   Imagination that . . . .

"Did anyone videotape this event (aside from Spanish-language media)? I'd like to see the microphone incident for myself. "

I saw a TV camera from ABC News,
and about a dozen others in the back.

I had an aisle seat, 3 rows back with a clear view.
You may have noticed John and Ken did not take
phone calls today, only emails.
I couldn't have been the only one who saw the truth.
They want to own this event, and their version
will be the only one played.

The one woman in the back who shouted
"It's not Asa's fault" got sorely booed.
So of course no one else spoke up.

I don't care if my report gets vilified.

I'm not convinced that John and Ken's crusade
couldn't wait until after the election.
If Bush doesn't win, we're looking at total amnesty.
