Okay, please don't flame me. I'm honestly interested in what freepers think about this.
Ever since Rush came back from rehab and started talking about "living a lie" and "not being able to make other people happy" and all that, I've had the uneasy feeling that Rush had "discovered" something more about himself than he was letting on.
Today, listening to Rush as he talked about his empathy for McGreevy, it seemed inevitable to wonder if Rush's empathy (and, please, if you did not hear Rush's comments, realize it's difficult to assess the tone and emotion with which he delivered them) wasn't tied back to his own "living a lie" struggles.
Yes, it would be easy to think that the "lie" was his drug addiction, but . . . I'm posting this because it really seemed as though Rush might be warming up to his own bombshell (whatever that might be).
His commentary was so passionate, in a personal, not political way, that I even wondered if he was (unconsciously) seeing if he could start a thread like this, in order to see what the speculation might be and what the reaction to that speculation might be.
Who heard Rush's opening commentary on McGreevy and what was your reaction/thoughts? Thanks. I'd be interested to know.
I suggest Limbaugh save his sympathy for someone who deserves it and that makes me a basher?
Several broken marriages and past rumors. Who knows?
Oh so now it's not the back problem but an unhappy marriage probelm??????????? GIVE ME A BREAK
Thank you. My husband has just reformated the computer so I can't listen right now. Add that to the last month with intermittant poor service from roadrunner, and I haven't had access in awhile. I will remember that for later....
Sheesh, get a grip on yourself..........
If you don't want to be associated with freepers then why are you on this thread? More importantly when are you leaving?
Your name says it all, what a knee JERK reaction! Rush is being what he is, a Christian based individual!! Aren't we as Christians supposed to feel compassion for those who are involved in living a lifestyle that will eventually destroy them? Do you think Christ died for all sin or just a particular few? I pray for my enemies because they are blind to truth. The truth does set you free. and maybe McGreevey will be able to see his actions are wrong and ask God and others he has harmed for forgiveness and turn away from this practice of sexual sin.
I thought Rush's "be true to who you are" bit had a lot to do with his wife, her expectations (especially in light of his drug addiction, sting operation).
One thing that bothers me about Rush's "be true to thyself" routine is that it seems to ignore repentance or being true to what God wants us to be, imo.
As I wrote in the earlier posting.
I think Rush is sucking you in to prove the point of how big a fraud McGreedy's coming out is.
I think with the uncoming INDICTMENTS, yes not lawsuit, INDICTMENTS. His move is to be able to say, "This is about sex, they are after me because I am a poor, homosexual, Taxocrat and that is why they hate me.
Haven't you ever heard of Occam's Razor?
Hold on -- of course you haven't. If you had, you wouldn't have posted this.
Rush's coverage was refreshing and I admire him for it.
A dittohead
I'm not saying you are wrong. I just didn't get that impression. Could be, who knows?
Rush is FR's friend and we consider him a hero.
We have trolls who want to DIVIDE us... so do not buy into them.
We are UNITED and so is THE GOP. WE love RUSH!
Excellent statement.
Below is the email I just sent Rush regarding his comments:
Rush:
I am beside myself. In fact, I cut short my morning exercise routine to write you this note to express my utter dismay at your new-found "sensitivity" (ala Kerry) for Mr. McGreevey at what is a lifestyle founded upon a matter of choice not birth.
While I do agree with you regarding the political motivation and circumstances surrounding his resignation, I am in total disagreement as to your comment that McGreevey will only experience true freedom by acknowledging "what he is," which is homosexual. In saying so, you are implying that McGreevey's homosexuality is something that is inherent in him instead of a result of choices he has made in his life.
For you to say that McGreevey is simply a prisoner to "what he is" you are giving a blanket approval to all who have made choices that are the result of character flaws, such as adulterers and thieves, all of whom deserve your sympathy because they are only reacting out of an uncontrollable sense of "what they are."
This is the epitome of nonesense and is revealing as to your lack of understanding of the human nature. You may claim to know Democrats as well as you know your body but you must admit ignorance in knowing the foundation of poor decisions in our lives as humans: a sinful nature.
I can understand your sympathy and empathy for Mr. McGreevey, especially in light of your own struggles regarding your addiction to prescription drugs BUT, Rush, you did not become addicted because of "what you are" but of choices you have made to feed that addiction. It is the same with McGreevey. None of us are "victims" of "what we are" but become slaves of our CHOICES.
McGreevey should be applauded for his "coming out" only when it is coupled with the acknowledgement that his homosexuality is NOT the result of a cosmic conspiracy by God, making him a homosexual, but is the devastating result of his CHOICES.
Yes, I feel some sympathy for McGreevy because of his self-destructive choices. But I feel more for his wife and kids who have been shamed by his sin.
I'm of the opinion that Rush has only one fault: He's a Football Fan American. (I mean, what intelligent person would waste so much time on SPORTS, of all things!?) ;)
Rush doesn't do drugs anymore. Why does that bother you, newbie?
Exactly.
That would have been the admirable thing to do.
