Rush on McGreevy: Sympathy for living a lie
vanity | August 13, 2004 | Vanity

Posted on 08/13/2004 9:53:21 AM PDT by fightinJAG

Okay, please don't flame me. I'm honestly interested in what freepers think about this.

Ever since Rush came back from rehab and started talking about "living a lie" and "not being able to make other people happy" and all that, I've had the uneasy feeling that Rush had "discovered" something more about himself than he was letting on.

Today, listening to Rush as he talked about his empathy for McGreevy, it seemed inevitable to wonder if Rush's empathy (and, please, if you did not hear Rush's comments, realize it's difficult to assess the tone and emotion with which he delivered them) wasn't tied back to his own "living a lie" struggles.

Yes, it would be easy to think that the "lie" was his drug addiction, but . . . I'm posting this because it really seemed as though Rush might be warming up to his own bombshell (whatever that might be).

His commentary was so passionate, in a personal, not political way, that I even wondered if he was (unconsciously) seeing if he could start a thread like this, in order to see what the speculation might be and what the reaction to that speculation might be.

Who heard Rush's opening commentary on McGreevy and what was your reaction/thoughts? Thanks. I'd be interested to know.

"...just repeating psychobabble that was drilled into him during his rehab..."

Right-O !! I got enough of that type of babble just getting a Master's in Education (Quackie stuff) at the University of Alabama.

I hated to hear about Rush's divorce. I've been through the nastiest of those and a divorce can really shake up a fella and not just the wife and children. I hope all the best for the great Rush and I predict there will be no bombshells from him other than the ones he hurls at the Left.

Wonder how the 'new' Rush would have reacted to the Clinton years...

Well, the outline of McGreevy's situation is that he is a prominent citizen who had an embarrassing personal secret, and who was forced to reveal that secret under threat of being outed, and possible blackmail. That is similar to Rush's situation, so I can see where the McGreevy news could cause Rush to sympathize on some level.

I liked him better in the "My Boy Lollipop" days.

I realy think he is just empathizing the situation not the acts.

Rush was publicly raked through the coals over his drug problem. He saw what it did to his family. H

I have no problem with feeling bad for the guy. Heck he is a human being. That in no way means I want to make him a victim or allow him to get away with his actions.

Rush said he felt bad for the guy. Then he went on to berate him POLITICALLY for his lack of judgment.

I think Rush gets more "credibility" for not personally attacking the guy but rather attacking him for his actions as Governor.

BTW, Rush announced he is a Football Fan American. lolol

Good point. Rush has made it clear that McGreevy resigned not because he is gay, but because of the corruption.

Rush is cleverly separating the two issues.

I disagree in one aspect. I think something else is going on here. The reason why is everyone is recognizing the difference in Rush's demeanor today. It might be the drug addiction, but I think it's more a setup!

I prefer to think that Republicans don't kick a man when he's down, DemocRATS DO!

I think his comments were disgraceful and a slap in the face to the millions of those of us that believe in absolute right and wrong, sexual morality and Christianity. Rush essentially has jumped on the homosexual agenda's bandwagon with these comments.

There is nothing more good about accepting and being open about one's deviant sexual desires. Homosexual behavior, male homosexual behavior in particular, leads to rampant promiscuity, the spreading of disease and early death.

Stating that it is good for someone to accept homosexual behavior is as ridiculous as stating that it is good for someone to accept his pedophilia or his desire to commit adultery.

James McGreevey is headed for more misery, not less in his life. McGreevey, like all homosexuals, needs spiritual and pyschological help that will restore his God-given sexuality.

One can only hope that David Limbaugh will make more intelligent and moral comments than his brother.

Well, I don't feel bad for the guy or his enabling wife. I do feel bad for his kids. With parents like that...

Rush didn't get where he is going all wimpy over losers like this guy. Whatever happened to him -- his own guilt, or possibly the "sensitivity" sessions in rehab -- he better get over it. His listeners have sympathy but not for the jerk in jersey.
