Whatever their private troubles may be, the former President and First Lady seem to be keeping their marriage stable. Through the Whitewater scandal (the investigation of which, as of the fall of 2000, has been dismissed -- about, oh, eight years too late), through the now infamous Monica-gate, the Clintons have kept a united front. Scandal defined their lives and their marriage for almost all of the 1990s and, though the secrets of their marriage aren't really the business of the public, that's what happens when one chooses a life in the public eye: constant scrutiny and judgment. The Clintons must know this; maybe this is why they can keep up such a seamless appearance in the face of the firing squad. Can the *Stars* help shed some light on what keeps Mr. and Mrs. Clinton smiling?
