In an interview this morning on Fox and Friends, Kerry spokeman Jeh Johnson backed off of Democrat presidential nominee Senator John Kerry's repeated statements that he had spent Christmas 1968 on a secret mission in Cambodia.
Fox's Brian Kilmead asked Mr. Johnson whether Sen. Kerry would release the action report from January 20, 1969 regarding purported action in Cambodia.
Mr. Johnson said, "I believe you're referring to an incident that happened near Cambodia. Okay, well John Kerry has said on the record that he had a mistaken recollection earlier. He talked about a combat situation on Christmas Eve, 1968, which at one point he said occurred in Cambodia. He has since corrected the record to say it was someplace on a river near Cambodia and he is certain that at some point subsequent to that he was in Cambodia. My recollection, my understanding is he was not certain about that date.
Mr. Kilmead brought up Sen. Kerry's 1986 floor speech in the Senate where he talked about spending Christmas in Cambodia as being "seared---seared" in his memory.
Mr. Johnson replied, "I believe he's corrected the record to say it was someplace near Cambodia, but he is not certain whether it was actually in Cambodia but he is certain that there was some point subsequent to that that he was in Cambodia."
Mr. Johnson also repeated Sen. Kerry's canard that he left Yale in 1966 and turned down all options to further his education by choosing to serve his country. As was (barely) reported in March of this year, Sen. Kerry asked for and was denied a one year deferment to study in Paris.
I just noticed the Cambodia story on the Kerry Website is a Washington Post article published in full. They prohibit Free Republic from posting entire articles, yet they let Kerry's campaign website post the full article. That sounds like a campaign contribution to me.
The Lanny Davis Hit Parade has been maniacal that O'Neill's Swiftees are LIARS because they say they "served with Kerry" when they weren't on his boat. Kerry's Cambodia lie is a real lie, while the other is merely the faux result of a newly minted definition of "served with" that the Dims are trying to foist us us.
I was the CIA guy sitting in the booth next to you.
Hey, you are nearly as bad a liar as John Kerry ! He said he got take out - he wouldn't have been in a booth...:-)
And, BTW, how gutless is it of Kerry to send his flack out to try to cover-up for him? A real profile in courage that John Kerry. Real CinC material there.
NOT.
Seems this Kerry spokesman this morning on F&F was reiterating what the campaign said before. It seems Fox and their reporters are still waiting for the Kerry campaign to get back over this issue after Cameron confronted the Kerry people yesterday with the senator's own historical statements.
Kerry's own website has "Secret Mission in Cambodia"

On kerry's own website he has the article that talks about that "secret mission" in Cambodia:

Paragraph close to the bottom
Second issue. A FR last night said that all boats in the military has a log. Who can go out there and find the log for Kerry's boat? It must be kept by the senior officer in charge. This must be available from the military records.
Who can find it?? It will make for good reading.
With his lucky hat.;)
Ha! They have that WaPo worshipful article posted that includes how young John Kerry snuck into East Berlin and biked around.
(the end of the article has the part about the hat the CIA guy gave him to remember their top-secret Cambodian mission)
And to think the reporterette betrayed not one whit of suspicion that he was perhaps embellishing a wee bit.
'Nother waldrobe malfunction, that is all!
Well, EXCUSE ME for misremembering.
Thank you for the report Kristinn.
here's your answer!
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT HAT?
(Words and music by James Rolmaz)
(Copyright by Francis, Day & Hunter, Ltd.)
(From "Music Hall Song Book, by Peter Gammond, 1975)
(Not dated, but from the 1890's chapter)
Now how I came to get this hat, 'tis very strange and funny,
Grandfather died and left to me his property and money;
And when the will it was read out, they told me straight and flat,
If I would have his money, I must always wear his hat.
CHORUS: "Where did you get that hat? Where did you get that tile?
Isn't it a nobby one, and just the proper style?
I should like to have one Just the same as that!"
Where'er I go, they shout "Hello! Where did you get that hat?"
If I go to the op'ra house, in the op'ra season
There's someone sure to shout at me without the slightest reason.
If I go to a concert hall to have a jolly spree,
There's someone in the party who is sure to shout at me: CHORUS
At twenty-one I thought I would to my sweetheart get married;
The people in the neighbourhood had said too long we'd tarried.
So off to church we went right quick, determined to get wed;
I had not long been in there, when the parson to me said: CHORUS
I once tried hard to be M.P. but failed to get elected,
Upon a tub I stood, round which a thousand folks collected;
And I had dodged the eggs and bricks (which was no easy task),
When one man cried, "A question I the candidate would ask!" CHORUS
When Colonel South, the millionaire, gave his last garden party
I was amongst the guests who had a welcome true and hearty;
The Prince of Wales was also there, and my heart jumped with glee,
When I was told the Prince would like to have a word with me. CHORUS

Maybe he did.
Go check out Drudge.......Mamma T has kicked the Gigolo out of the hotel suite...
The question Brian asked, and didnt get an answer to was along the lines of "kerry opened the door by running on his record in VietNam, dont these vets have a right to tell their own story?"
(I was so angry I didnt hear it word for word...)
And the SPIN began, that bozo talked right up till the end of the segment without answering the question...
Brian had a hard time with that interview....
Over at duh, they hate Cameron, and that makes me like "Campaign Carl" even more
If Kerry asked for a deferment, was denied, and then volunteered for service--I can explain that.
The draft lottery was in effect during the VietNam war. If you had a high draft number, you were going to be drafted as a regular army draftee.
Lots of college men, myself included, decided we'd rather be officers (better pay and perks) than in a motor pool or infantry grunts and volunteered for various officer programs available to college grads. It was making the best of an inevitable call to duty.
This isn't to say college grads who volunteered under these circumstance weren't brave or that they were ducking danger. After all, 2nd Lts in Marines and Infantry had a very high casualty rate. I don't know about Ensigns in the Navy.
But someone ought to be looking up Kerry's draft lottery position. His volunteerism may have been guided by these considerations.
!
I'm running to Drudge now...
LOL
