Hopefully the debate will help answer that question, assuming Californians are even watching.

A herd of RINOs couldn't get Bill Jones elected to the US Senate from California.

The debate was marred by technical difficulties and more commercial breaks than a Nascar race on NBC.

I heard most of it on the radio. Unfortunately I have to say Boxer "won" the debate. Jones sounded like a cya politician dodging the (liberally biased) questions. For example asked whether knowing what we now know about no WMDs in Iraq would he still support going to war? Jones said he didn't want to answer any hypothetical questions, and talked about UN resolutions. What he should have said was "Yes. Even though we haven't found large stockpiles of weapons, Saddam was a menace who was supporting terrorism, had WMD programs, and had tourtured and massacred Iraqis for decades. Now Saddam is facing trial, we have a free and democratic Iraqi government that has been recognized by the entire world community. America is safer and the world is a better place because President Bush had the courage to act."

Boxer OTOH simply ignored questions she didn't want to answer, and answered the questions she wanted to be asked. She was much better at appealing to people's emotions.

I thought that whole "my husband was in the reserves so you can't question my support of the military" answer was a particularly inventive departure from reason.

They used the reserves answer as a news bumper during the news cast. She is like a dead whale. It just sits there and smells and you can't get rid of it. Jones is a good man but in this state he will never get a state wide office again.

Is it too late to get a carpetbagger to replace him?

My God, has California gotten so bad that's the best they can find to oppose Boxer? Maybe Dennis Miller SHOULD have run against her as first rumored.

Unfortunately a RINO is the only person who has a chance in CA.

Otherwise we must consider California is lost.
