I need information.
The Associated Press is claiming that one of the authors of the book Unfit ofr Command is a FReeper who has posted some, ah, inteeresting things. (At least they mentioned us.)
AP reports as follows:
WASHINGTON (AP) - One of the authors of a new anti-John Kerry book frequently posted comments on a conservative Web site describing Muslims and Catholics as pedophiles and Pope John Paul II as senile.
But as he prepared to launch the book, "Unfit for Command," Jerry Corsi apologized for the remarks in an interview with The Associated Press Tuesday, saying they were meant as a joke and he never intended to offend anyone.
In chat room entry last year on freerepublic.com, Corsi writes: "Islam is a peaceful religion just as long as the women are beaten, the boys buggered and the infidels are killed."
In another entry, he says: "So this is what the last days of the Catholic Church are going to look like. Buggering boys undermines the moral base and the lawyers rip the gold off the Vatican altars. We may get one more Pope, when this senile one dies, but that's probably about it."
Is there any truth to this or is it just liberal media spin? If so, what is the gentleman's screen name (as I'm sure he was either misquoted or quoted out of context)?
If he did, does it make what the book says about Kerry any less damaging?
Typical lib response... don't acknowledge the message, just attack the messenger.
True. That's their standard response. They try to smear the authors of this book, they try to suppress the Swift Boat commercial. They don't rebut, just try to smear and suppress. Then they bleat about how they and only they support free speech.
What are they afraid of?
Still, it would be better if we can clear these quotes up.
It's true. The person apologised on Hannity today. Let this issue die. Go with the Swiftvets story. Don't allow your self to become a victim of the liberal slime machine...they know how to exploit you.
"...describing Muslims and Catholics as pedophiles and Pope John Paul II as senile..."
He offered apologies if you were offended.
as far as some muslims and some catholics being pedophiles -- yes just as there are pedophile baptists , presbyterians, episcopalians, atheists, buddist .....
Is the Pope going senile? he is advanced in age and physically weak - senile though? Nah, when he can speak, it is lucid and strong (typical for his age and shape).
People do use "going senile" to describe anyone over 40 that says something not agreeable. Hell! I feel like I'm going senile once ina while and I'm only 5... errr ... let me count .... oh yeah! 53 now.
Yes. Every word of it.
I heard it today on the Sean Hannity show -- he was on with the Navy Guy who has made the rounds tonight... said he had made his comments as poor jokes that his wife didn't think was funny and that his dog didn't think was funny and in retrospect, he didn't think was funny -- guess he did some cartoons, too...
MY QUESTION IS: this guy used a fake name here -- how did they tie him to the book????
John O'Neill said he's not the author, but editor.
Well, Alan Colmes discussed this tonight to refute John O'Neill, so I'd say, yes, it does.
He signs his real name to many of his posts.
Too late; it's already in the Dems talking points.
Ok--I've read it re-read it and I still can't find anything anyone would need to apologize for. Same with the statement about the Catholic church.
And if this guy is a FReeper -- hoorah!!! But if he wants us to know his name, he would tell us.
Lanny Davis...HEAD SLIMER, his stock in trade, from The Clinton Playbook.
Jerry, is that you?
As long as people are honest and take responsibility for their actions, then it is no longer an issue.
End of subject.
Military men often use colorful epithets in jest. Especially to let off steam. Say, right after 9/11 perhaps?
Ad hominem notwithstanding, the issue remains.
Funny...I didn't really disagree with your comments.
Does anyone have the audio or video when President Bush was visiting Pope John Paul II this year?
My wife and I considered this an important visit and watched it life.
I have to admit, watching Pope John Paul II address President Bush was painful to watch.
