Gertz to break story in W Times...
You got it. Good post!
FWIW, they killed the Afghan Northern Alliance leader, Mossad, on September 10, 2001. Just something to keep in mind as we try to figure out what they are up to.
An assassination utilizing a screwdriver does not seem to be very high tech or imaginative. Jeff Head could easily think of a better plot.
Don't know- I downloaded it but haven't had the time to read much of it. what I have read is nothing new relative to what we've already known, though.
while we are waiting, here's a little distraction:
"Mike Wallace is certainly no stranger to controversy. He was in the center of it Tuesday when he was reportedly handcuffed and hauled away by peace officers with the Taxi and Limousine Commission who claimed they had no choice but to arrest him.
It happened outside of "Luke's" Bar and Grill on 79th Street and Third Avenue. We're told Mike Wallace went there to pick up a takeout dinner, when his driver was stopped by TLC inspectors for double parking.
A spokesperson for the TLC says when the two inspectors tried see if there were any other violation, things quickly got heated.
One police officer reportedly said he thought Wallace was going to lunge at the other inspector, so he handcuffed the 86-year-old journalist and hauled him off to a police precinct where he was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.
Ernesto Cavalli, Witness: "He is 86 years old. The poor guy can not... the inspector can say what he wants. It is a lie. It is a lie. Plain and simple. I saw the whole thing. If I have to, I will be a witness."
Diane Dawson, Witness: "They threw him in cuffs. There were policemen and, i mean, it was unbelievable. It was appalling. He didn't do anything."
The TLC reports the police officers did not know they were arresting a celebrity and treated Wallace no better or worse than anyone else. It says they were only doing their job.
Wallace is apparently a regular here. The owner of Luke's tells me Wallace called him after the incident to say he was home enjoying the meatloaf dinner he had come here to pick up hours earlier. "

What a morbid and terrible subject! When you think about it, though, what you would want to do was make the candidate you wanted in an object of sympathy. Remember when Carnahan got in?
I would be concerned about the immediate family of the Democratic candidates, because that would garner an incredible sympathy vote, and, ahem, at least one Democratic candidate family member has proven to be sort of a liability - I don't think I have to give a name here.
Adding 2+2 -- I was thinking about the same thing.
Remember the proposed TIPS program? The one where UPS/Fed-Ex or other delivery types, plus other professions, were going to be askd to report suspicious activity. That's a 'neighborhood watch program', only different, because it' would have been conducted by people that didn't live in the neighborhoods that they would have been reporting on.
That kind of planning
41 is there already. The twins and Barbara are there too
They better not even think about hurting those 4!!!
Is it a metric screwdriver? Gotta know!
Reuters has the story up.

Good. Treat everyone the same. That's the way it should be.

Would it be ironic if they choked on their popcorn?
I need diversions these days...thanks for the rest of that story.
This is the same story that ABC ran earlier in the evening.
I can't name a single likeable Dem, aside from "Give 'Em Hell" Zell Miller. Having said that, and the likelihood the AQ terrorists plan to strike 60 days before this year's election, that puts the date at 9/2/2004, the same day Bush speaks at the RNC Convention. The same place Zell Miller will be.
They might, but they ain't going to let that out and tip off the terrorists.... LOL.. kidding...
"The goal of the next attack is twofold: to damage the U.S. economy and to undermine the U.S. election," the official told the newspaper.

Al Qaeda plans include assassination plot - report
11 Aug 2004 03:49:32 GMT
WASHINGTON, Aug 10 (Reuters) - A high-profile political assassination, triggered by a new message from Osama bin Laden, will lead off the next major al Qaeda attack, The Washington Times reported in Wednesday editions, citing U.S. intelligence officials.
U.S. officials familiar with intelligence reports, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the assassination plan was among new details of al Qaeda plots and would target a U.S. or foreign leader either in the United States or abroad, according to the newspaper.
Planning for the attacks to follow involves "multiple targets in multiple venues" across the United States, one official was quoted as saying.
"The goal of the next attack is twofold: to damage the U.S. economy and to undermine the U.S. election," the official told the newspaper.
The officials said there are intelligence reports, some of them sketchy, that a new tape from bin Laden would surface soon, the newspaper reported.
"The message likely will be the signal for the attack to be launched," one official said.
A second U.S. official was cited as saying that one intelligence agency was aware of unconfirmed reports of a new bin Laden tape.
"There may be such a tape, but it hasn't surfaced and we haven't seen it," the newspaper quoted the official as saying.
The Washington Times reported that the plot was among detailed al Qaeda plans found on a laptop computer belonging to captured al Qaeda suspect Muhammad Naeem Noor Khan.
Information from Khan, a computer expert, prompted the United States to issue a new security alert for financial institutions in Washington, New York and New Jersey and led to the arrest of a dozen al Qaeda suspects in Britain.
Khan's capture was part of a Pakistani crackdown, which began a month ago and has dealt al Qaeda a major blow.
