SHIP v.s. BOAT - Lanny Davis and DNC newest smear tactic.

Posted on 08/10/2004 6:44:34 AM PDT by chambley1

Lanny Davis, on FOX News Hannity and Clones smeared Swift Boat for Truth vet Mr. Gardner by constantly stating his fellow vets never served on Kerry's ship!

It's they're newest trick to smear the truth - make people think Kerry's ship was a destroyer or something - not a "ski" boat with an Evinrude outboard that served side-by-side with other swift boats and CREWS.

The Swift Boat Vet for Truth should take a scale model of their swift boat to all interviews to refute the DNC smear merchants.

Now you're falling into"The Rat Trap"!95% of us never served in The Military!!What's that supposed to mean?

Yeah, but are you accusing the president of having been AWOL like Michael Moore and Terry McAwful did? I don't think so

"I believe there is a length that longer = ship and shorter = boat. As far as the Navy is concerned. "

I didn't read all replies... not sure if you got the correct answer, but it goes like this:
A ship has expansion joints. These are flex points in the ship where it allows the ship to "bend" when caught between waves.
A boat is a boat. A single rigid hull. That's how a huge submarine can still be considered a boat.

USN - 1977 - 1981.

No, but boat is still not a ship. This is just plain stupid. How could a swift BOAT be a ship?

Lanny Davis is a lawyer's lawyer, and I don't mean that as a compliment. He is a sleazoid who will do and say anything, regardless of how corrupt or dishonest, if it will advance the interests of his "client." In Lannie's lexicon, "client" means anyone who "can help me gain money and power because I prostituted myself to him (or her)."

I am ashamed to be associated with Lannie Davis by profession and alma mater. To paraphrase Mark Twain, "If the funeral of Lannie Davis occurs while I am in Washington, I will postpone all other recreation and attend it."

Kerry's quote about "100 feet" referred to the fact that he always sailed on large and expensive sailboats back in Massachusetts. It was a put-down to another vet who mentioned in making conversation, that he had a 37-foot boat.

I was a squid (IC3).

There was no firm rule, but something smallish was a "boat", something big was a "ship". The bigger the vessel, the more of a joke it was to call it a "boat" (e.g., someone on a carrier might joke about a frigate-class "boat"). A Master Chief, on the other hand, might fondly call his beloved frigate (or even a carrier) "my boat," because he knew every inch of it backwards and forwards just as he would a smaller vessel.

Conversely, only a complete bozo would call a PBR "a ship," joke or not. Thus Lanny Davis.

I never heard that, but it sounds OK.

Still, I heard a heck of a lot of fleet Chiefs calling their ships "my boat" (e.g., Third-Class Angkor, fix those !*(@& comms now, or get the he&& off my $#%$# boat!")

It follow that....IF vets that never served on Kerry's boat can’t comment on Kerry service?

Then how could Kerry in his antiwar activaties comment on others service that never served on Kerry's boat?

If they are lying about Kerry because they weren’t on Kerry's boat

Then Kerry was lying for years about ever other Vietnam Vet that did not serve in Kerry boat But that as usual a lib logic and truth.. wanting it both way… you can’t say anything because you weren’t in my boat … but I can say anything about you even thought you weren’t in my boat

EVERY “LYING DIRTBAG” comment made about the Swifties by Kerry camp based on “they didn’t serve in my boat”...

Must BY LOGIC be reflected a ten thousand fold on Kerry and his camp because all the other Vietnam Vet Kerry degraded for years “didn’t serve in his boat”

The 'Rats are already at work over at Barnes and Noble with basically the same spin. I submitted the following "review" of the book:

Pay attention to the spin. The Kerry supporters are already trying to say that if you weren't IN THE BOAT with Kerry, then you didn't "serve" with him. Never mind you were under the same commander, in the same squadron, on the same river, on the same patrols and watched him. Over 250 men who served along side John Kerry, inclucing three IN THE SAME BOAT, have declared Kerry Unfit For Command. Of the 23 men showed in his campaign photo, only ONE supports him, the rest sued to make him stop using their image.

Kerry has already campaign to try to destroy those who speak out, threatening to release illegally obtained "damaging military records, personal credit histories, medical histories, psychiatric histories, divorce records, you name it.”

In naval parlance:

Anything less than 100'long is referred to as a "craft".

Anything 100'or longer is referred to as a "ship".

Anything that can float in your bathtub with your rubber ducky is considered a "boat".

Any boat or craft commanded by a democrat wanna-be is an almost certain ticket to a Purple Heart (ex: JFK's PT boat, Kerry has three of them) or worse.
