Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread SEVENTEEN
World Net Daily ^ | 8-10-04 | Paul Sperry

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

With the nation on high alert for al-Qaida terrorists, the Department of Homeland Security is putting its border officers through "etiquette" classes to soften their image and make them less threatening to arriving foreign immigrants, WorldNetDaily has learned.

Aha. Vel, what about this map below? It looks like that homemade pic could be the state of Minnesota going eastward and ending where the north part of Lake Superior (the first lake por the uppermost lake) stops. In other words, the border of the state of Minnesota blends in and becomes the border of Lake Superior; there are even those 2 small bump things tilting right at the end of the lake as in the homemade drawing. So, it would be a pic of the state of Minnesota's northern border into the northern (Canadian) border of Lake Ontario. What do you think?

Since Russia is the topic, I picked this up off of Pravda:

Russian Computer Expert Predicts Internet Terrorist Attack
Created: 24.08.2004 18:27 MSK (GMT +3), Updated: 18:27 MSK, 10 hours 49 minutes ago

MosNews

Terrorist will paralyze Internet on August 26, a Russian expert in antivirus programs said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the conference hosted by Russian Information Agency Novosti, Aleksandr Gostev from Kaspersky Labs said information on this terrorist attack was published on special websites. He did not elaborate.

First of all, the United States and Western Europe will suffer from the attack, Gostev was quoted by the agency as saying. The head of the labs, Yevgeny Kaspersky, reminded that similar attacks had earlier paralyzed Internet in South Korea. He added that it would be “impossible” to stop terrorist organizations if they “get down to business.”

The executive director of Dr.Web antivirus lab, Mikhail Bychinsky, quoted by Lenta.ru web agency said he never heard of such an attack. “I do not believe in mass internet attacks because the main servers are defended, and Kaspersky Labs has been foretelling the doomsday for a long time.”

"Aren't many of them Yemeni as well? I thought I read that....somewhere."

I'd imagine he'd have the "homeboys" with him. Most of the non-Taliban types are probably Arabs (including Saudis, Yemenis, Jordanians, Syrians, Egyptians, etc)and then the next biggest non-Arab groups are probably Chechens and Uzbeks. But no one really knows. Hard to do a census in those areas. That area (Waziristan/FATA) is like the "Wild West" of the mid-1800s here in the U.S. Pakistan has about as much control there as Custer did in what was nominally American territory.

BTW, not to bring up Shukrijumah's ethnicity again . . .

but if Adnan isn't technically Saudi, UBL isn't either.
His father's family is originally Yemeni and his mother was Syrian. The reality of his background doesn't matter, only the perception.

Rutles, help me out here please. I posted that upon first looking at the pix I to thought it looked like the NW US (actually I posted NE in error, I meant NW). Then I pulled out my trusty atlas. It does look like WA, Idaho and Montana but what is the northern upward ^ in what would be N. Dakota (N. Dakota's upper border is straight) and then Minnesota's northern border doesn't look like the drawing at all. I'm not questioning your analysis, just trying to understand the drawing.

The upper "scribbles" (above the green wavy lines that look like water), to me, look like a ship with a crane offloading (first drawing from left) at a loading dock (2nd drawing), (third drawing) not sure but I assume the mode of transport possibly train car, (4th drawing) old fashioned bomb with fuse - think bugs bunny cartoon type bomb drawing, (5th and 6th) buildings with the 6th one possible being a factory (the two dots above the stacks).

A definite concern. Fortunately for our area, we are a minimun of 4 hours from any major population centers under normal travel conditions. However, we are next door to a state fairgrounds that could accomodate 20K + ala the rumored Rex 84 camps.

I am in agreement with you on this JP. There is a lot of difference between educating people about topics and someone skewing them in public to prove their expertise. It all boils down to a the simple word "respect" for others.

Knowledge is a great thing to share, but undermining others rather than rational discussion or professionally agreeing to disagree is wrong IMHO. Just because someone posts here regularly doesn't give them the right to treat others rudely or condescendingly. I hope EV returns to post here.

"So, it would be a pic of the state of Minnesota's northern border into the northern (Canadian) border of Lake Ontario. What do you think? "

It looks like that to me too and if you recall the discussions on Severnaya way, way back, there was a river in Canada that tied into that and it emptied into the area around Thunder Bay.
