MSNBC: " It didnt sound like a hard question. After George W. Bush delivered a tepidly received address to a convention of minority journalists, a Native-American editor from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer asked, What do you think tribal sovereignty means in the 21st century? As president and a former governor, the journalist said, Bush had a unique experience, looking at [the issue] from two perspectives. The president fumbled. Tribal sovereignty means thatits sovereignty, he stammered. I mean, youre ayoure ayouve been given sovereignty and youre viewed as a sovereign entity. As Bush rambled, looking like a schoolboy unprepared at the front of the class, many of the hundreds of Asian, black, Native American and Hispanic journalists gathered before him
well, snickered.
Let's try this again..
Zot theme

.
Now you know why we don't use the water cannons on them - they'll breed!
Very good! I'll now have that song in my head for the rest of the night!
I seem to recall a wise man saying something like "fools will always be among you." : )
That is a good one.
We find ourselves faced with a clearly identified enemy and a leadership reluctant to recognize the pure motives of those opposed to our rather Laissez Faire approach to too many internal cautions and a seeming lack of attention to future outcomes.
Our vulnerablity is our strength as an afterthought only, but our attention span grows shorter with each passing year as the memories of past affronts dim with the passage of time so that now we are more concerned about whether the Trade Center's collapse was more of an architechural problem or one of deserved failure due to pride.
We are encouraged to embrace the language of the philosopher while we turn a deaf ear to the cry of the warrior.
Complacency has been for so many years a refuge from the belching bile from the upset stomach of the great beast that lurks just off our shores; now that he is fully dyspepsic, we run to the medicine cabinet - not for an antacid, but for a sleeping pill.
It may prove to be a long night.
Now I've made myself dyspeptic - hate these clumsy fingers.

"I think we have to recognize that the Native American community, which has not been recognized, has as much desire, has as much interest and is as prepared and is as capable and always has protected America with as much zeal as any other community, and we ought to trust it and provide the funding necessary as a separate jurisdiction where that coordination is not absolutely necessary." --- Kerry, according to CNN transcript
Kerry's statement is contorted bullshiess, but I reckon it sounds more 'intellectual' to you because his comment was composed mostly of four-sylable words. Nevermind that they were strung together as incoherently as anything Bush ever voiced. Kerry relies on the "if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshnit" method.
Webster's:
Sov´er`eign`ty
n. 1. The quality or state of being sovereign, or...
Looks like Bush wasn't wrong. Kerry, on the other hand, seems to have confused sovereignty with DEPENDENCE. How can one be sovereign if you require external funding?
And why would you, a lib, want to bring up sovereignty knowing that Kerry thinks we should surrender ours to the United Nations?
Isn't the Native American sovereignty issue just a method for liberals to keep American indians on the reservation?
As far as conservatives are concerned, Native American sovereignty = no taxes.
;o)
(Stoic.)
Tom Daschle sucks. Ben Nelson's okay.
