Despite being kicked out of last year's inaugural event, Christian activists plan to protest today's "Gay Community Day" hosted by the Philadelphia Phillies Major League Baseball team.
Monday's game in Philadelphia against the Colorado Rockies will feature the Phillies' twelve-game winner Eric Roberts on the mound. It will also feature special recognition of members of the local "lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered" (LBGT) community. The second annual "Gay Community day" at the Phillies' stadium is being promoted by the Gay & Lesbian Lawyers of Philadelphia (GALLOP) and the Philadelphia chapter of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA).
Before the game, members of the Philadelphia-based group Repent America will be outside Citizens Bank Park handing out gospel literature and displaying two banners. One banner reads "Homosexuality is sin. Christ could set your free." The other says "The Phillies support homosexuality. Stop Gay Day."
Repent America director Michael Marcavage says the group will then enter the ballpark and hold up the first banner.
"We go there with the Word of God, the law of God, to help them understand that despite their homosexuality ... the hope that they have is in Christ Jesus, and that He can set them free from the bondage that they're in," Marcavage explains. "Homosexuals today in America are in bondage to sin and the only way out is through Christ Jesus."
In an effort to be light in the midst of darkness, Marcavage's group will be sharing the gospel with homosexuals -- something he says many Christians are unwilling to do. He explains his group's motivation.
"We must go to the sinner with the Word of God and not argue the tradition of men. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Without the sword, which is the Bible, how can we fight?" he asks. "I believe that the reason we are losing the homosexual battle in America today is because there's an enormous amount of apathy in the Church and [because of] our refusal to be a light in the darkness."
Marcavage says "Gay Day" at the ballpark is just another example of how the homosexual agenda has infiltrated the country and gained more acceptance. At last year's inaugural event, Phillies executives had Marcavage and his friends escorted from Veterans Stadium for holding up a banner proclaiming homosexuality as sinful and offering freedom through Christ.
Philadelphia Thillies.
It is the City of Brotherly Love, after all.
With uniforms like this...
Sorry to get off the subject but I don't believe the Phillies have a pitcher named Eric Roberts.
Correct, it's Eric Milton.
- Homosexual Agenda PING -
God bless this man and his ministry!
(Do the Fillies even have a team anymore?)
Did the Yankees trade Mussina to Philly?
The entire city of Philadelphia is gayer than an Easter bonnet from the 1890s.
Appropriate considering Paul Abbot throws like a girl. |
Don't the Mets do this every day they start Kaz at shortstop?
By the way...who's pitching and who's catching? |
From the title of the thread, I thought maybe they were playing the Cubs, but it said Rockies.
OBTW.......GO CARDS !!
Fnord. Another nadir for professional sports.
In my childhood days following the Phillies, who could have imagined such an event.
What does homosexuality, or even heterosexuality, or sex have to do with baseball???
It gives new meaning to the term "Play Ball"!!!
Incest Community Day is next Thursday. Bring your wife/sister.
I've heared Piazza and Alomar of my beloved Mets "play for the home team."
