In order to understand some of the most important political decisions of our time, we have to think about the media and how much power they wield. Both President Bill Clinton and President Bush seem to have been affected by the power of the media in tragic ways that reek to the heavens.
Clinton might have been able to move with strength on Osama Bin Laden if he - literally - had not been caught with his pants down and found himself in the middle of an impeachment proceeding.
But his worst luck - and the worst luck of the world - was that a film called "Wag the Dog" had just come out, adding a new term to the language.
The film took the position that whenever pressure comes down on politicians, they divert attention from themselves by starting a crisis of some sort, preferably a war in a foreign land.

The gruesome upshot is that Bin Laden may have slipped the noose while Clinton was fighting for his political life because he seemed to have been given no choice.

This is how Bush haters, particularly DUers, blame Republicans for 9/11. But if Clinton was such a great president, like those idiots claim, why would he have let baseless charges by Republicans hinder going after a terrorist like Bin Laden?
