Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 10:16 p.m. EDT NY Times Blew Cover of Key Counterterror Agent

An al Qaida computer expert who was secretly arrested on July 18 and has since been providing critical intelligence on the terror group's plans for coming attacks on the West was rendered useless this week when he was outed by the New York Times.

"By exposing the only deep mole we've ever had within al Qaida, it ruined the chance to capture dozens if not hundreds more," former Justice Department prosecutor John Loftus told Fox News on Saturday.

I ask myself why would anyone help endanger Amercians by releasing information that would help al Qaida. The NYTimes had to know releasing Khan's name would blow chance to protect lives - they can't be that stupid.

I can only beleive that success with Khan would have helped showed Bush in positive light for election, and NYTimes Bush haters eager to turn out light to help Kerry.

It won't be long before the democrats demand to know who leaked the name rather than point to the Times blabbing it across the face of the planet.

There is another question: Who leaked the info to the NY Times?

"The only comforting thought is that, when al Queda attacks Manhattan again, some members of the New York Times staff will perish."

That thought brings you comfort?

Sorry to disagree, but I think it was a gross error to release this asset's name, even on deep background. Even if the NYT could have been trusted to keep it confidential, a story that contained any details at all about what had led to the alert would probably have tipped AQ off about who was talking. Our supposedly tight lipped administration talked, and to what purpose? They were still slammed for not immediately sharing enough details, such as how old some of the information was.

On retrospect, no. But it would be justice.

The actual source appears to have been from Pakistani Intelligence. So, why would a Paki intelligence guy give the name to the NYT? The answer is because that would be the fastest way for a double dealing Paki to notify al Qaeda that they hade a mole.

It's obvious the Dems are busy selling us out on many fronts. After all, after they voted to go into Iraq they mostly spend their time railing against it.

My dog has fleas, it's BUSH'S FAULT.(just trying to make a point, he doesn't really have fleas)LOL

Maybe the NY Times will get another Pulitzer for their betrayal.
