After WTC was hit, Kerry sat in a daze for 40 minutes

One of the characteristic behaviors of the left is the big lie, the false attack on your opponent for something that you have done yourself. With John Kerry, this tendency is combined with a uniquely highly developed case of tone-deafness, an insensibility to context, which in turn is a symptom, it seems to me, of his impenetrable self-regard and sense of entitlement. The other day Kerry attacked President Bush for having continued to read to the Florida school children for several minutes after getting word that the second plane had hit the World Trade Center. All other things being equal, I suppose it might be a fair point. But when we remember that Bush's response to 9/11 is overall the high point of his presidency, with even his enemies admitting he was magnificent in the days and weeks following the attack, Bush's initial delayed response (if that's what it was) to the news of the attack would seem an extremely odd thing for Kerry to criticize him for. As is always the case with Kerry, however, it gets worse than that. It turns out that on the morning of September 11, Kerry did not, like Bush, delay acting for a mere five minutes, he delayed acting for 40 minutes. Here is Kerry's reply on July 8 to Larry King who asked him what he was doing on September 11th:

I was in the Capitol. We'd just had a meeting -- we'd just come into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle's office, looking out at the Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon. And then word came from the White House, they were evacuating, and we were to evacuate, and so we immediately began the evacuation.

Since the South Tower of the World Trade Center was struck at 9:03 a.m., and the Pentagon was hit at 9:43 a.m., this means that Kerry along with several other members of the Democratic Senate leadership sat together at a table in a daze for a full 40 minutes, unable to act, unable to think. From Kerry's description it sounds as if they weren't even watching the television, as tens of millions of normal people did, to follow and try to make sense of the unfolding events. They simply relapsed into a passive state, neither taking in nor reacting to the fact that America was under an unprecedented attack. This is not surprising, since liberals are constitutionally incapable of acknowledging the existence of evil and enemies (except of course for evil and enemies on the right).

Kerry criticizing Bush for his insufficiently quick response on 9/11 is like a pacifist criticizing George Patton for failing to bring the fight to the Wehrmacht.

Not only did Kerry sit there with Babs, totally zonked, none of these Democratic party leaders had the sense to flee to save their own lives.

Did they imagine that terrorists smacking the WTC, then the Pentagon, would be disuaded from laying low the Senate?

This sort of unability to sort through things and come to basic conclusions probably explains the standard Dem objection to guns and SUVs.

Bump - so classic - it might even be the leftists have no clue what to really blame on others, except to blame them for whatever they fear they will be caught doing themselves. Perhaps their list of crimes and foul-ups is exactly whatever they decry others for, reversed, with a slight twist.

I wonder if Hillary Knew?

All I can say is: "THANK GOD FOR BLOGS!"

Kerry's ass has just been nailed to the wall and there's nothing he can do about it.

Sweet.

Actually, President Bush didn't have to run around like
a chicken with its head cut off. He had the foresight to
have protocols in place and knew that certain actions would
take place because they are on "automatic" all the time when
it comes to the military responses. Yes, and Dick Cheney
had his part of it in hand, too. Meantime, our President
had the gumption not to jump up and alarm small children
who could have been scarred for life if that situation
hadn't been handled calmly. - Of course, ol' Swiftboat
would have run the ship of state aground and chased the
kids around the room shouting, "The sky is falling, the
sky is falling!"

Yes, and if you read his comment closely, you find that Kerry, Daschle, Boxer and Reid were petrified for about 40 minutes until the White House called them and told them to evacuate. Apparently, they didn't have sense enough on their own to evacuate.

Yet, Kerry sarcastically criticizes GWB for not jumping up immediately and telling the children that the Nation was under attack, but waited nearly 7 minutes (while the President's staff were gaining usable details).

Well, sitting in a short daze was absolutely the best thing kerry (and almost anyone else) could have done at the time. Knee-jerk reaction would be just that - knee-jerk. And proper and serious response needed resolve and deliberation, thus the pause.

now all we need to find out is what kerry's puppeteer, michael moore, was doing for those few minutes.

Kerry then leaped into action claiming he was wounded by a fragment form the Pentagon strike, demanding a Purple Heart and immediate transfer to Massachusetts for the duration.

point is, echoing his boy michael moore, kerry this week criticized bush for just sitting there for seven whole minutes, continuing to read to the children. this puts the lie to kerry. again.

This man was in a daze on 9/11 and has been in one ever since. Hopefully his "DAZE" are numbered and he will be a forgotten man after the elections!
