Smoky Mo's BBQ
IH-35
Round Rock, Texas
* Best food, service, and atmosphere!!!

Amen brother...haven't eaten there in years. Still remember the lady we called aunt Esther watching over us making sure we didn't smuggle ribs out the door for later. In college we call the place "The New Zion Missionary Baptist Church of the Immaculate Barbecue". Stubbs BBQ in Lubbock was pretty good too.

Cooper's BBQ in Llano, TX is the best by far. Their pork loin, sirloin, and brisket are awesome.
For ribs, it's hard to beat Luling City Market in Luling, TX.
My BBQ is better than most, and so is my sauce.

The Old Mexican Cafe in Old Town is good, too. They are expensive, though. The French Cafe on Coronado Island is great, too, if they are still there. You've been gone way too long. -:)

"That's going to be my man catching device in the near future" Perfect bait when you're trolling for quality men in the south. Some of them yankee boys wouldn't know a barbecue cooker from a lawnmower, though.

When I was stationed in Norfolk VA there was a place called the Grate Steak in the area. You got yourself a beer a picked out a raw steak. Then you grilled it in the restaurant.Loved it!!!

Although Washington state is NOT known for it's BBQ, I nominate the Longhorn Bar-B-Que in Spokane.
Back in 1955, the Lenhertz brothers of Houston, TX brought the idea of real pit BBQ to Spokane. It's one of the most popular eateries in Spokane. A few years ago, they opened up a western Washington branch in Auburn, and they're a regular at both the Spokane Interstate Fair and the Western Washington (Puyallup) Fair.
A funny story: back in the early 70's, the Loghorn started selling it's sauce at the restaurant. Since it's near the airport, a number of flight crews liked to eat there. A flight attendant bought a couple small jugs of the sauce to take home with her...to Phoenix.
She arrived in Phoenix, put the sauce jugs in the back seat of her Cadillac (with a cream-colored leather interior), and went shopping. She went into the store and left her car with the windows rolled up.
In 110-degree heat.
For a half-hour.
Guess what happened?
She returned to her car to find the exploded remains of BOTH jugs coating the interior of her Caddy. When she returned to Spokane, she explained what happened to the owners at the Longhorn. They paid for the re-upholstering of her car, plus two new jugs of sauce and instructions NOT to leave them in a hot car next time.

"Dr. Hogely Wogely in Van Nuys.
You hit the jack-pot...
I only had time to scan the article...and Dr. Hogely Wogely was listed as
one of the top picks"
I think the full name is Dr. Hogely Wogeley's Tyler Texas BBQ. It's in the worst neighborhood of Van Nuys and the place is a dive, but the beef ribs are so flavorful and tender, they fall off the bone! Very inexpensive too!

"I second Corky's but I "first" the RENDEZ VOUS.
However...I'll stack my dry ribs against the RENDEZ VOUS any day."
I saw "Rendez Vous" profiled on a couple of food and travel shows recently (along with Corky's and Neeley's Inter-State BBQ in Memphis). Are dry ribs really that good? They don't look very appetizing and I would think you'd be biting into a bunch of paprika and pepper (gag). Maybe it's a whole new taste sensation, but it's hard to fatham (the restaurant guests sure looked like they enjoyed it though)....

Dry ribs are fantastic. Crusty outside and moist inside if done right. You gotta try it.
You can always put some of their sauce on them.

Thanks! There's one out toward Bristol (close to Piney Flats?) I think called Pardners that is busy (at least during race week)
