In honor of places that we know we could eat without being interupted by Kerry... Please post your favorite BBQ joint, where it is and what your favorite thing is at that place...
According to a cursory internet search, they're at:
3362 S US HIGHWAY 1, FORT PIERCE, FL 34982, (772) 461-0052
Perfect ribs, and the best sauce on Earth.
We have BBQ Shrimp here
Aw geez, anyone of your new neighbors could tell you!
Not sure how close to Westheimer your new home is so I will give you the BEST directions, but perhaps not the SHORTEST.
Go south on 99
Turn right (west) on Hwy. 90.
Just before Richmond you come to Pitts Road which only goes north (right). Pass this and the very next light is a Farm to Market which also only goes to the right. I do not know the number but it's 3 numbers starting with a 3 or 7. If you cross the Brazos in Richmond, you've gone about a mile too far.
After the turn you pass Pecan Grove Country Club on the right and then go into a long S curve to the left. A mile or so after the curve ends, The Swinging Door is on the right. Closed Monday. For YEARS it was cash or check but I think they've been taking credit cards since the last time they burned the place down.
Wait till I get in, and I'll take you to eat some REAL bar-b-que!
They've got a water hose outside.
NO, never wrong... just the same ol' same ol'. I would love to take a road trip to all these places around the country. The local culture adds so much to the experience and taste. I guess that's what my heart longs for.
BTW, those Au gratins are soooo good, and so fattening!
Five Central Ohio locations. The best in the area.
"since the last time they burned the place down."
The best one's have burned at least once.
Jim, I don't know where that is. This place is about a block past the sugar refinery, on the other side of the street. It is next door to where the old Dairy Queen was that's now a convenience store of some type.
Are you partial to Eastern Carolina or Western Carolina BBQ? There's a big difference. I prefer the Down East style.
Port Cape...baby back ribs...Cape Girardeau, Mo
thanks
I live close enough that I can smell them cooking. :)
Oh man, that's gonna leave a mark.
Good Luck! I'm stuck out here too and I long for some good old Texas BBQ. Hell, they don't even know you can barbeque sausage in this state!
No, not in many, many years.
Sorry to hear it is going so well there.
I kind of thought that when I left, the whole place would go down the tubes. :)
No, not "new". If you go through my 2500+ posts, you'll see I've done it for a good while. Par35 Since 2002-08-20
