John Kerry has taken the lead over George W. Bush among likely voters in Florida according to a survey by the American Research Group. A total of 50% of likely voters say they would vote for Kerry if the presidential election were being held today and 43% say they would vote for Bush. A total of 2% of likely voters say they would vote for Ralph Nader and 5% of likely voters are undecided.

In a ballot question without Nader, 52% of likely voters say they would vote for Kerry and 44% say they would vote for Bush, with 4% of likely voters undecided.

These results are based on 600 completed telephone interviews among a statewide random sample of likely voters in Florida.

Of the 600 likely voters, 39% are Republicans, 45% are Democrats, and 16% are not affiliated with any party or affiliated with a minor party.

The interviews were conducted August 3 through 5, 2004. The theoretical margin of error for the total sample of 600 is plus or minus 4 percentage points, 95% of the time, on questions where opinion is evenly split.

Is it just me or do the polls seem to be favoring Kerry more and more?

And they will continue to go that way. They will make it appear that Kerry can do no wrong. Then just a week or two before elections they will give the correct poll numbers, just so they can claim that they correctly called the election.

I tell you what, lets do the poll with 45% GOP and 39% rats and see how it shakes out.

Kerry has a 6% handicap going in.

And he leads by about 6%.

How profound.

BAD JOB NEWS FOR BUSH: Today's jobs report release for July is bad news for the Bush campaign because it calls in to question the sustainability of the economic recovery.

A single month of disappointing job numbers can be written off as a statistical aberration, however a second consecutive month of very disappointing job growth, coupled with job revisions downward for May and June, certainly calls into question the underlying strength of the economy.

Strategic Vision Poll is a REPUBLICAN pollster.

Not Always. They've done polls for Republicans in the past but many of their more recent ones have been for media outlets and such.

"Ask anyone who lives in Florida (as I do), they'll tell you that many neighborhoods are ghost towns during the summer months. "

This Floridian can testify to that.

The non-urban areas of FL are key for Bush.

I think the conscience issues (war, homosexual marriage, taxes, kerry the liar) are issues that will play to the snowbirds.
