HUMAN EVENTS has obtained a copy of a letter which lawyers for the Democratic National Committee and John Kerry have sent to television station managers attempting to suppress the blistering anti-Kerry TV spot created by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and first reported here on HumanEventsOnline.com.
The letter claims the ad is "false" and "libelous" and suggests, in not-so-subtle terms, that TV stations should use their "legal authority" to refuse any requests for advertising airtime, stating that "because your station has this freedom [to refuse the ad], and because it is not a 'use' of your facilities by a clearly identified candidate, your station is responsible for the false and libelous charges made by this sponsor" (emphasis added).
As their first piece of evidence of the ad's supposed lies, the DNC/Kerry lawyers claim that the veterans in the ad "purport to have served on Senator Kerry's SWIFT Boat in Vietnam" but, "in fact, not a single one of the men who pretend to have served with Senator Kerry was actually a crewmate of Senator Kerry's." The problem is that none of these men claimed to have served on Kerry's SWIFT Boat. They simply said they "served with John Kerry" -- and they did.
The letter goes on to make several more misleading statements about the advertisement, in an attempt to protect Kerry's "war hero" record. Read the full text below.

I didn't catch his name, but he was a commander of another swiftboat who was behind the boat that hit the mine and next to "Cut and Run" Kerry's boat. He read the After Action Report on the air.
Additonally, Kerry's own "home movies" show him in flak vest and helmet, carrying an M-16!

They tried to silence the American people from speaking out against the liberal agenda through threats of hate speech legislation.
Now, they're attempting to silence the freedom of the press as well.
I suppose they'll be demanding all pro-Bush books to be burned soon.

We were not used to this and thought it a little weird. Now it makes great sense. Our president can say that only the ads with his opening statement can be connected to him.

Kerry was going to visit the Catholic National Cathedral outside Washington as part of his campaign.
Kerry's campaign manager made a visit to the Cardinal and said to him, "We've been getting a lot of bad publicity among Catholics because of Kerry's position on abortion and the like.
We'd gladly make a contribution to the church of $100,000 if during your sermon you'd say John Kerry is a saint."
The Cardinal thinks it over for a moment and agrees to do it.
Kerry shows up, and as the Mass progresses the Cardinal begins his homily.
"John Kerry is petty, a self absorbed hypocrite and a nit-wit. He is also an opportunist, liar, a cheat, and a gigolo. He is the worst example of a Catholic I've ever personally known. But compared to Ted Kennedy, John Kerry is a saint."
Truth is an absolute defense. Liars know this.

Geez, they don't even justify their margins, looks tacky.
Are these some of the six thousand that Kerry has hired to dispute the election counts when looses? If so then he's using them a little early most people do not like lawyers and courthouses.
That did occur to me, especially after McClellan's remarks.
But no, I don't think so. This really isn't where Bush wants his campaign to go.
