I think Kerry only served for four months, so they would have served for half of that time.
We may agree that CFR was wrong-headed, but I was correcting a mis-perception by another Freeper that the WH had denounced the Swiftboat Vets for Truth ad, not commenting on McCain-Feingold.

If they are lying all Kerry has to do is release all his records. It's that simple. And, don't you think if Kerry is telling the truth he has film or photos of these serious injuries? He took films and photos of regular things. For sure he has documentary (not the fake Michael Moore kind)evidence? Right?
An interesting thing about all of this "Swift Boat" information today is that the Dems. and Kerry talk about Bush and company playing politics. Case in point. Some Democrats like Howard Dean accused Ashcroft of making up the terror alerts these past few days. Well, if that was the case why would they arrest these guys in the Mosque today while all this new "Swift Boat" information is coming out? They'd sit on it while Kerry deals with all of this.
And isn't it interesting that Kerry himself had not said that the hightened terror alert was somewhat "bogus". I imagine that's because the goober headed botox boy was briefed via secure telephone this week. So he knows it's serious. But he, of course, does not come out and say so while some of his buddies like Howard Dean lie about the situation.
Speaking of his Band of brothers, kinda makes me wonder how it is Douglas Brinkley never ran across these guys...

The reason I think Kerry didn't fear any of these things coming out is because he knows all of that stuff could be dismissed with "Well, he's got three Purple Hearts, so that's that."
The thing is, though, Bush never discusses his service, so it's not like they can attack him for this.
In other words, Kerry figured he could deflect any such attacks UNLESS they came from these guys.
Well, I think so. It seemed to start aggain when the show ended yesterday at 5 central time.

No, because I think they have skeletons to hide also. They may have conspired with Kerry over this. I think if these "vets" were thoroughly investigated, we would find they are an unsavory lot, probably with vested interests in a Kerry win, or covering up their own lies.
I was an enlisted sailor from 1972-1976 (not a combat vet), but the Kerry described is the kind of officer I would have loathed. In later years (82-93) as an Army Guard/Reserve officer, Kerry is the type of officer I would have tried to stay away from...a real self serving empty uniform. No body with even shred of honor would ask for or accept a purple heart for a bandaid wound - especially not three of them.
From Kerry's perspective he had survived a Lt. Gov campaign, a congressional campaign (which he voluntarily dropped out of), and three Senate campaigns. So, he must think this is enough of a vetting!
If his judgement is this bad in his personal/career decisions just imagine what kind of President he would make!

My sweet vietnam vet husband who is now deceased really hated this guy. I am glad this is coming out to the public now. I pray he never becomes President.

Brinkley is such a hack.
Brinkley purposely 86ed Steven Gardner (Kerry's Gunner who is against Kerry) out of the book. Brinkley had only one thing in mind-- writing a sensational account of Kerry's exploits in Nam that could serve as a vehicle to get him elected. Even the title "Tour Of Duty" is bunk-- Kerry didn't even complete his tour.
So many lies. It is shocking!
