I think my wife likes it better when I watch shows she doesn't get, gives her an excuse to spend less time in front of the TV.

I definitely agree with Doc and Home Makeover. Have only seen one Joan of Arcadia, but enjoyed it very much.

My son and I enjoy watching Home Makeover together, and even watched the rerun of the soldier's surprise return to supervise the makeover of his family's home. GREAT stuff.

I've never seen Doc, but I do like Home Makeover. A couple of the guys on the design team are a little odd for my taste, but I think it's a great concept. It's quite touching to see how some of the folks react to their new digs.

Actually, during Season 2, it was very good. The top ten finalists all sang (and then recorded) Proud to be an American ... with pride and tears in their eyes. A Marine Lance Corporal was a finalist, and the top three finalists (Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken and Kimberley Locke) said they all prayed together before the show.

I didn't care for season 3 as much - it didn't match up to season 2.

I honestly think almost every show on both lists is a bunch of drivel. "Everybody Loves Raymond" I like now and then, but I can scarcely believe some of the "best" shows they list. I fear for America. On the other hand, if we want to undermine any potential global rival, our ultimate weapon is to get them to spend a lot of time watching our TV shows.

Duckman, with Dweezil Zappa digging into his father's archives for all the music. Best part about Duckman was listening for when the Dweez would sneak in Peaches En Regalia (long one of my favorite Zappa's even before I found out Dweezil loved it too).

I saw on the Farscape reruns last night that the final chapter is to be shown on SciFi in October: "Farscape: The Peacekeeper Chronicles."

Looks like they are going to tie up all the loose ends caused by the sudden cancellation last year.

I never noticed that, although my knowledge of music trivia would barely fill a thimble. I had to go look up Peaches En Regalia. :)

You know what show really grew on me (and I don't know whether it's started its new season) ... Dead Like Me. It is so offbeat and so original, and intelligently written and acted.

What channel is that on? If it's good, I might have to check it out.

I'd take EVERYONE LOVES RAYMOND out of the mix. I used to like the show, now it's become difficult to watch. They are all becoming unlikable characters hellbent on making each others lives miserable. The first season it was funny, by now, it's just exhausting. I think they should just end this show by having Raymond and Debra divorce because at this point, they don't even seem to LIKE each other, let alone love each other.

Network TV is chimp entertainment. You gotta be one of the lower primates to actually spend time watching it. The news they provide is geared to the attention span of an inner-city, unemployed single-mom on crack.

They should include Trinity Broadcasting Network. The Reppies, Colby's Clubhouse, etc. How does this kind of family entertainment get left off?

>>> This whimsical show misrepresents God to a most dangerous degree.

True of all secular entertainment that tries to deal with the issue. We do not permit any secular entertainment in our home.

They expose kids to objectionable issues and content.

In what way?

They bring up issues that kids in the age group the show is aimed at really don't need to be dealing with, and they really internalize it. They're not equipted to deal this stuff yet. We grew up with Opie and Beaver Cleaver. As a child, I would have hated to have had all those problems foisted upon me from every other "kid" show on TV.

It's a Showtime original series. I think you can catch up on the premise and characters somewhere on their website. It really is compelling, and there's a real dry sense of humor running throughout, alongside some really tender scenes.
